BMW Group and Momenta have announced a collaboration to develop a next-generation intelligent driving assistance system tailored for the Chinese market.

The system will debut on the domestically produced new-generation BMW iX3, with mass production planned for at the Brilliance BMW Shenyang manufacturing plant.

The partnership between BMW and Momenta focuses on providing full-scenario driver assistance that covers highway and urban road conditions.

Development and testing are currently underway across four key locations: Beijing, Shanghai, Shenyang, and Nanjing.

Both companies adhere to BMW’s stringent validation standards, conducting large-scale real-vehicle testing in high-traffic and extreme conditions, complemented by over hundreds of millions of kilometers of simulation testing to ensure system stability and reliability.

The intelligent driving assistance system is built on Momenta’s end-to-end Flywheel large model. It features an integrated "Perception-Planning-Control" architecture that uses ultra-large neural networks for environmental sensing, path planning, and precise vehicle control.

Momenta’s AI algorithms and data-driven technology are combined with BMW’s expertise in safety, human-machine interaction, and driving strategy to enable the vehicle to interpret complex traffic scenarios and make decisions closely resembling those of a human driver. This enhances the system’s ability to adapt to dynamic road environments.

The new-generation BMW iX3, equipped with this system, will be produced in China and make its global debut in 2026. It will be the first BMW model to incorporate Momenta’s intelligent driving assistance system.

Future plans include deploying the solution across multiple BMW models produced for the Chinese market. Momenta and BMW intend to accelerate the rollout of this intelligent driving technology throughout China.
