AITO M6 spy photos surfaced; new SUV to complete "56789" product matrix in 2026

Spy photos of a suspected AITO M6 test vehicle surfaced in December 2025, pointing to a new mid-size SUV that is expected to debut at the 2026 Beijing International Auto Show and reach the market in the second quarter of 2026, according to multiple industry reports.

The model is positioned between the AITO M5 and AITO M7 and is intended to complete the brand’s so-called “56789” product matrix, a strategy previously disclosed by Yu Chengdong, Huawei Executive Director and Chairman of the Intelligent Automotive Solution BU, during a livestream outlining future product planning.

AITO is a premium SUV brand under the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), with vehicles manufactured by Seres Group and equipped with Huawei’s in-car software, intelligent driving systems, and electronics architecture. The M6 is expected to strengthen AITO’s presence in the core family SUV segment as competition intensifies among Chinese new-energy brands.

Based on visible pricing gaps within the current lineup, the AITO M6 is expected to focus on the 250,000 CNY price band (c. $35,500). The AITO M5 currently starts at 229,800 CNY (c. $32,600), while the AITO M7 starts at 279,800 CNY (c. $39,700). The M6 is designed to directly bridge that gap, giving AITO continuous coverage from the low-200,000 CNY range upward.

Once launched, AITO’s lineup will consist of the M5, M6, M7, M8, and M9, covering a price span from roughly 200,000 CNY to 600,000 CNY (c. $28,300 to $85,100). This would allow the brand to align its product cadence more closely with mainstream and premium SUV demand without internal pricing overlaps.

Camouflaged test vehicles show the M6 retaining AITO’s rounded design language. The front end appears to use a closed grille, consistent with battery-electric and extended-range vehicles, with headlamp clusters similar to the M5. A thin horizontal element connects the lights, though it remains unclear whether this is a chrome trim or an LED light strip. Downward-extending C-shaped air guides mirror design cues seen on the M7, M8, and M9.

The lower front bumper features sporty air vents and a trapezoidal intake outline. From the side, the body profile is clean and rounded, with slightly inward-sculpted door lines. Semi-hidden door handles are visible, alongside five-spoke alloy wheels and red-painted brake calipers, suggesting a stronger visual emphasis on sportiness than the M5.

The rear design appears fuller and upright, with a roof-mounted spoiler integrating a rear camera, consistent with AITO’s current sensor placement approach. No interior images or cabin specifications have been disclosed.

Powertrain details have not been officially released, but the M6 is expected to follow AITO’s existing strategy by offering both extended-range electric (EREV) and battery-electric (BEV) variants. Range figures, battery capacity, and charging specifications remain unannounced, though sources indicate overall driving range will improve relative to earlier models.

During the livestream event titled “Extraordinary Step | Together — Harmony Intelligent Mobility”, Zhang Xinghai, Chairman and Founder of Seres Group, said the company’s goal was to ensure that “each model launched becomes a hit.” Yu Chengdong separately confirmed that the M6 would arrive next year as part of a broader refresh of the AITO lineup.

With the M6 targeting a price band that accounts for a large share of China’s family SUV demand, the model’s reception may determine whether AITO can maintain momentum below its higher-margin flagship models as competition tightens across the mid-range new-energy market.
