The completely revamped BMW iX3 draws optimism as Reuters suggested that it is “a key model for the German carmaker that could help it reclaim some of the market share lost in its largest market, China”.
The iX3 runs on an 800-volt architecture with BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive, featuring Gen6 cylindrical battery cells that improve performance and cost efficiency.
It is built on BMW’s new electronics architecture encompassing four centralized high-performance “superbrains”, including the “Heart of Joy” that manages drivetrain, braking, and recuperation.

Connectivity and UX are handled via the Panoramic iDrive system, powered by BMW’s Android-based OS X, and featuring a windshield-spanning “Panoramic Vision” projection display and a 17.9-inch touchscreen.
The smart voice assist is powered by a custom large language model (LLM) developed jointly with Alibaba to feature AI agents.
The smart driving system was jointly developed with Momenta to cater to the bespoke roads and driving behavior of China.
