All-new China-made 6th gen Toyota RAV4 revealed ahead of Guangzhou Auto Show

On November 19, 2025, ahead of the Guangzhou Auto Show, FAW Toyota officially revealed the sixth-generation RAV4, marking a full redesign with enhanced intelligence and a broader powertrain matrix. The automaker said pricing will be announced and pre-orders opened on November 21 at the show.

The RAV4 has long been a sales pillar for FAW Toyota, with 23,213 units sold in China in October despite rising adoption of pure electric vehicles. We expect a competitive starting price of around CNY 150,000, against the current model’s range of CNY 169,800–229,800.

The new RAV4 adopts Toyota’s latest design language with a rugged, off-road–oriented look. Its front end features sharp C-shaped LED headlights connected by a black trim piece, while the grille is semi-closed and the front bumper houses large air intakes and a silver skid plate.

The vehicle rides on 18-inch wheels as standard, with optional 20-inch wheels, and black wheel arches and sculpted lines emphasize its robust stance. It measures 4,620 mm long, 1,855 mm wide, and 1,680 mm tall, with a 2,690 mm wheelbase, slightly larger than the outgoing model.

Inside, the cabin is completely reimagined in a style reminiscent of Toyota’s Prado, with high-quality materials and a strong, upright layout. The cockpit features a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a new-generation HUD — all running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155P chip.

FAW Toyota integrates a smart cabin system tailored for China, supporting CarPlay, HiCar, and Android Carlink, OTA updates, and a Toyota language model voice assistant that recognizes multiple zones and dialects.

The seats, branded STYLIS, include available ventilated versions using an air-suction design. Rear seats fold completely flat, expanding cargo space from 514 liters to 749 liters, and ambient lighting supports 256 colors. Physical buttons are reduced, and a compact electronic shifter and round steering wheel reflect localized design changes.

On safety and driver assistance, the new RAV4 is equipped with 24 high-precision perception units and Toyota’s TSS 4.0 system, which delivers Level-2 ADAS functions. Supported features include dynamic radar cruise control (DRCC), a blind-spot monitor (BSM), traffic dynamic notification (TMN), safe-exit assist (SEA), and a panoramic view monitor (PVM).

The hybrid variants offer an upgraded E-4 electronic AWD system, based on a new domain controller, which allows torque distribution up to 20:80 front-to-rear and ranges from 0:100 on the rear axle.

FAW Toyota offers three powertrains: a 2.0 L engine producing 126 kW with options for front-wheel drive or AWD; a new 2.0 L hybrid system generating 112 kW at the engine and 144 kW system output, in front-drive; and a 2.5 L hybrid that puts out 136 kW at the engine and 174 kW system output, coupled with the E-4 AWD.

Conversion rate: 1 USD = 7.12 CNY as of November 19, 2025
