BYD and Midea links up to rival Xiaomi with a "Human-Car-Home" smart ecosystem

On November 24, 2025, BYD and Midea Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Shenzhen, outlining plans to connect vehicles and home appliances under a shared “human-car-home” smart ecosystem, similar to Xiaomi’s “Human x Car x Home” Smart Ecosystem.

The companies said the agreement is designed to remove information barriers between cars and homes and create common technical standards for AI agents, interconnection, and data exchange.

The partnership extends across all BYD vehicle brands and several Midea Group brands, including Midea, COLMO, Little Swan, Hualing, and Toshiba.

Both sides will work on standardizing interfaces that allow users to operate home appliances from inside a vehicle and manage vehicle functions from within the home environment.

The signing took place at BYD headquarters with the attendance of BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu and Midea Group Chairman Fang Hongbo.

At the ceremony, Fang Hongbo took delivery of BYD’s Yangwang U8L, with the handover conducted by Wang Chuanfu.

Midea said its goal is to make “human-car-home” function as a single integrated experience rather than a collection of independent systems.

BYD stated that the cooperation will expand the connected-ecosystem functions already deployed in its product lineup.

The agreement follows ecosystem upgrades introduced at the 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show, where BYD’s Han L and Tang L added compatibility with Midea’s home-appliance systems and launched accessories designed for home-vehicle connectivity.

The partnership covers areas including technology development, standards formulation, inter-ecosystem connectivity, and coordinated marketing across both companies' product lines.

Chinese automakers are increasingly trying to integrate vehicles, home energy management, and AI-enabled domestic systems into unified platforms.

The next phase of collaboration may determine whether such cross-device interoperability becomes a point of differentiation in the EV market or evolves into a common industry standard.
