At the Shanghai Auto Show, which started on April 23, BYD’s Denza Z concept supercar made its official debut, positioned as a four-seater supercar.
At the event, BYD’s design director Wolfgang Egger personally introduced the model, hinting that this will be a groundbreaking vehicle—one that rivals world-class products while being positioned far below the Yangwang U9 in terms of pricing.

This makes it a highly anticipated model, potentially offering an accessible yet high-performance electric supercar with formidable power. Another reason for the excitement? The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra could be its direct competitor—if their prices overlap, the rivalry will be intense.
With a total power output of 400 kW (536 hp), the Denza Z delivers solid but not segment-leading performance—falling short of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra’s specs.

It achieves 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, which is quick but not groundbreaking. However, it compensates with cutting-edge tech like steer-by-wire, Yunxiang-M magnetorheological suspension, a full wire-controlled chassis, and BYD’s cutting-edge Yisanfang (E3) system.

The Denza Z combines striking design, advanced engineering, and (likely) competitive pricing—making it one of the most intriguing debuts at this year’s Shanghai Auto Show.
Every detail of the Denza Z is meticulously crafted. Its three-dimensional front fascia features a multi-layered design, resembling a shark’s aggressive stance—flat and protruding on top, with a massive splitter below and a concave mid-section.

The hood incorporates negative-pressure vents to enhance downforce at high speeds. The front splitter is an enormous aerodynamic component, edged with vibrant trim accents. The W-shaped headlights and ultra-low-slung profile give it the presence of a top-tier supercar.

The car’s silhouette is defined by fluid lines and a two-tone design, with a floating roof effect. The pronounced wheel arches and sculpted bodywork amplify its muscular stance, while side air intakes and sharp lower skirts optimize airflow.
The lightweight alloy wheels, paired with yellow brake calipers, further reinforce its supercar appeal.

The rear features a dramatic layered design, highlighted by a swan-neck spoiler for maximum downforce during high-speed runs.
The taillights consist of two sets of diamond-shaped clusters, flanking a recessed center section. At the bottom, an oversized diffuser and bumper—accented with yellow trim—complete the race-ready look.

Inside, the Denza Z is a driver-centric, track-inspired machine. It sports a flat-top and flat-bottom steering wheel, a freestanding central touchscreen, and a narrow secondary display for the passenger.

The dashboard is constructed from carbon fiber for both strength and premium aesthetics, while Alcantara upholstery dominates the cabin. The carbon-fiber bucket seats come with five-point harnesses, and the car is equipped with advanced driver-assistance systems.
The battle of Chinese supercar just got very interesting as the Denza Z will definitely draw comparisons with the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra.
