On February 10, BYD shocked the global automotive industry with the simultaneous release of 21 vehicle facelifts equipped with its driving assistance system “God’s Eye” at the same price, making its ADAS virtually free.
In fact, BYD decided to make the God’s Eye ADAS system standard for all 21 upgraded models, from the ultra-luxury Yangwang U8 to the 69,800 CNY (c. 9,500 USD) BYD Seagull.

BYD is introducing its God’s Eye driver-assist system in three levels for its vehicles.
The basic system, called God’s Eye C, is equipped with 12 cameras and 12 ultrasonic radars and 5 mm-wave radars and is available to BYD models.
The 12 cameras consist of 3 front, 5 panoramic, and 4 surround-view cameras. Meanwhile, the 5 mm-wave radars offer complete 360-degree coverage, with the front radar capable of detecting objects up to 300 meters away.

The 12 ultrasonic radar sensors boast an accuracy of 1 cm, while the parking accuracy is within 2 cm.
The more advanced God’s Eye B includes a Lidar sensor and is intended for higher-end sub-brands, primarily Denza and Fang Cheng Bao models.

The “God’s Eye B” system will be powered by the DiPilot 300 system with a computing power of 300 TOPS.
The top-tier system, God’s Eye A, will feature three Lidars and will be powered by the DiPilot 600 system with total computing power of 600 TOPS.

The A system will be exclusively offered to the flagship Yangwang brand vehicles.
The “God’s Eye” A and B systems will offer NOA (navigation on autopilot) functionality for both city and highway driving.
Currently, the “God’s Eye” C system will only support high-speed highway NOA, but it is anticipated to include city NOA capabilities in the future through an OTA update.

In the past two years, most automakers have relied on expensive LiDAR technology to enable autonomous driving.
Few, like XPeng and Tesla, have opted for the less expensive pure vision solution, but none have made ADAS as accessible as BYD.

Through its self-developed BEV + Transformer algorithm architecture, BYD does not rely on high-precision maps, supporting map-free urban road navigation.
BYD also adopts low-cost hardware consisting of “tri-camera + 4D millimeter-wave radar,” reducing costs by up to 60% compared to the industry average.
For example, a laser radar hardware setup used by many emerging NEV brands is worth c. 20,000 CNY, while BYD’s hardware cost is as low as 2,800 CNY, seven times cheaper.

More importantly, with annual vehicle sales exceeding 4 million units, BYD gains access to over 12 million kilometers of real-world driving data that are fed to its AI models.
BYD’s self-developed “Xuanji Architecture” first achieves dual-loop coordination between cloud AI and vehicle AI, optimizing intelligent cockpit, autonomous driving, and chassis control in real-time through three communication layers: car network, 5G, and satellite network.

This architecture offers 142 vehicle control interfaces, enabling third-party developers to access autonomous driving sensing data, akin to an Android-like automotive ecosystem.
Additionally, BYD partnered with Huawei Cloud to build an EB-level (1 exabyte = 1 billion gigabytes) data storage cluster, processing 1.2PB (1 petabyte = 1,000 gigabytes) of data daily.

BYD’s Xuanji architecture also integrates the DeepSeek R1 large model, optimizing vehicle AI inference capabilities, enabling fuzzy recognition of driving intentions and dynamic obstacle prediction.
This is a major breakthrough moment with massive ramifications for the entire automotive industry.
BYD is pushing self-driving to the mainstream and further demonstrating that a pure vision ADAS system is viable at unprecedented prices.
