On January 21, BYD’s ultra luxury brand Yangwang has announced that its flagship model, the Yangwang U9 has reached a cumulative delivery of 100 units in five months.

That is the first domestic brand to reach this milestone, considering that the U9 is priced at 1.68 million CNY (approx. 230,000 USD), roughly enough to buy 7 Tesla Model 3 in China.

Since its launch on February 25 last year, the Yangwang U9 has garnered a lot of attention in China for its outstanding performance.

The Yangwang U9 is equipped with the Yisifang platform with a four independent motor layout enabling 360-degree steering.

The U9 is also the first BYD vehicle to adopt the Yunnian-X (云辇) technology, unveiled on April 10, 2024, which uses binocular cameras or lidar to identify road bumps or holes ahead and proactively adjust the suspension to absorb the shock.

The chassis of the Yangwang U9 utilizes an 800V high-voltage platform and a highly integrated main power source from the Yunnian-X system, with a maximum power output of 36 kW.

The peak single-axis lift rate reaches 500 mm/s, providing over 1 ton of lifting force.

The Yangwang U9 features a combined power output of 960 kW and a peak torque of 1680 N·m.

The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.36 seconds and completes a 0-400 meter sprint in 9.78 seconds.

The exterior design of the Yangwang U9 blends classic supercar elements with futuristic technology.

The interior features a dual-wraparound cockpit design, bucket seats, and carbon fiber materials with wireless phone charging, 127-color ambient lighting, and a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system.

The Yangwang U9 is also equipped with an ADAS system, capable of adaptive cruise control, automatic parking, and remote parking functions.
