On September 25, 2025, Dreame Technology, best known for its vacuum and smart home appliances and often compared to Dyson in China, introduced a new SUV concept under its Starry Automotive brand. The model, planned for market launch in 2027, bears a strong resemblance to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

The company, founded by Yu Hao and part of the Xiaomi Ecological Chain since 2017, built its reputation in vacuum cleaners and hair dryers before declaring its entry into automobiles on August 28.
Dreame established two car brands: Dreame Automotive, which focuses on hypercars, and Starry Automotive, which aims at luxury sport-utility vehicles.

The SUV concept is a large, box-shaped vehicle positioned as a flagship. Its 3.2-meter wheelbase, rear-hinged coach doors, and absence of a central B-pillar are features more common to high-end European designs.
Several Chinese outlets have referred to the model as the “D9,” a name also used for one of Dreame’s vacuum products.

Dreame has said the SUV will use a 100 kilowatt-hour battery based on its CTP 4.0 architecture. An optional range extender will be offered.
Four independent motors provide all-wheel drive. A 24-degree rear-wheel steering system is expected to keep the turning radius below five meters. The chassis will feature active suspension linked to cameras, radar and LiDAR.

The cabin measures 3.7 meters in length. The second row has two individual reclining seats with a wide center console. Rear legroom is listed at 1.2 meters. Dreame has described the interior as intended for chauffeur-driven use rather than family transport. Performance figures and pricing have not been confirmed.
Production is scheduled to begin in 2027. Dreame is preparing a facility near Tesla’s Gigafactory in Berlin, in partnership with BNP Paribas, to support European sales.

Building vehicles in Germany may also give the company credibility in Western markets. The concept SUV follows a separate Dreame Automotive prototype presented earlier in September that drew comparisons to a Bugatti Chiron.
With two concept vehicles in less than a month, the company has attempted to position itself in both the hypercar and luxury SUV segments.

Dreame is not the first Chinese company to use design cues from European brands. Models from Hongqi and Landwind in the past drew attention for their similarity to Bentley and Land Rover products.
The new SUV adds to questions over whether Chinese manufacturers will continue to imitate European designs or develop distinct brand identities.
