NIO (NYSE: NIO) launched 2026 model-year versions of its four-model "5566" lineup — the ET5 sedan, ET5T station wagon, ES6 SUV, and EC6 coupe-SUV — on April 2, 2026, with prices held unchanged across all variants. The refresh centres on cabin comfort, intelligent driving status signalling, and a nature-themed special edition, stopping short of powertrain or platform changes.

The "5566" models have been the backbone of the NIO brand's volume sales for years, though the arrival of the third-generation ES8 in September 2025 has dramatically altered that picture. The flagship SUV accounted for 77.1% of NIO-brand deliveries in the first quarter of 2026, with 45,160 units, leaving the four entry-level models with a combined total of roughly 13,383 units over the same period.

Among those, the ET5T led with approximately 3,001 registrations in January and February alone, while the ET5 sedan managed 929 and the EC6 just 806 units. The refresh is a direct response to that sales imbalance.

Pricing remains at 298,000 CNY (c. $43,300) for both the ET5 and ET5T, or 190,000 CNY (c. $27,600) under NIO's Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) lease plan. The ES6 starts at 338,000 CNY (c. $49,100) with the battery, or 230,000 CNY (c. $33,400) on BaaS; the EC6 opens at 358,000 CNY (c. $52,000), or 250,000 CNY (c. $36,300) on BaaS.

A Nature Wonderland special edition — inspired by the company's Clean Parks ecological initiative — adds 12,000 CNY to each standard price, bringing the ET5/ET5T Nature Wonderland to 310,000 CNY (c. $45,000), the ES6 variant to 350,000 CNY (c. $50,800), and the EC6 edition to 370,000 CNY (c. $53,700).

Buyers who lock orders before April 30, 2026 receive a package of time-limited incentives: a complimentary HD streaming rearview mirror valued at 3,800 CNY (c. $550), seven-year financing at an annual rate as low as 0.49%, five years of free NOP+ navigation-on-pilot access, and a buy-one-get-one first-year battery lease for the 100 kWh pack.

ET5 and ET5T purchasers also receive 50% off optional accessories, while ES6 buyers additionally receive the front passenger "queen co-pilot" seat at no extra charge.

The single upgrade common to all four models is the fitment of an intelligent driving status indicator light — integrated into the exterior mirrors — that illuminates when the vehicle's assisted-driving system is active.

The feature, known colloquially in China as the "small blue light," has become a standard benchmark among premium Chinese EV brands including XPeng (NYSE: XPEV) and Huawei-backed Aito.

All four 2026 models also receive the updated Moon 3.0 exterior kit, which applies a matte black finish to trims and badges for a more subdued aesthetic. Intelligent driving runs on the Cedar S 1.4.6 software version, incorporating the latest NIO World Model (NWM) for improved lane selection and urban traffic interaction.

On the ET5 and ET5T, NIO has made the previously optional "Comfort Package" standard across the full lineup. That bundle includes a heated steering wheel, front seat ventilation and massage, rear seat heating, an intelligent fragrance system, and negative ion air purification.

Nappa perforated leather seats and a micro-suede headliner are also now standard. The front and rear five-link suspension is paired with CDC adaptive damping, adjustable across 11 settings per axle in compression and rebound.

The twin-motor powertrain delivers 360 kW and 700 Nm, sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds. The standard 100 kWh NMC battery pack provides 740 km (460 miles) of CLTC range on the ET5 and 710 km (441 miles) on the ET5T.

The ES6 and EC6 receive the same powertrain — 360 kW, 700 Nm, 4.0 seconds to 100 km/h — and add the Moon 3.0 kit with 20-inch multi-spoke dark rims as standard. Both SUVs gain a zero-gravity driver's seat, offered free during the April 30 promotional window (valued at 8,500 CNY), along with standard rear seat ventilation and massage.

A dual magnetic accessory mount system covering high-frequency storage zones is also new. The ES6 measures 4,854 × 1,995 × 1,703 mm on a 2,915 mm wheelbase; the EC6 sits at 4,849 × 1,995 × 1,697 mm on the same wheelbase. The 100 kWh battery gives the ES6 up to 655 km (407 miles) of CLTC range.

NIO Group delivered 83,465 vehicles in Q1 2026, up 98.3% year-over-year and slightly above the top of its 80,000–83,000 guidance range. The company recorded its first-ever quarterly operating profit in Q4 2025 — 807.3 million CNY (c. $117,200,000), a sharp reversal from the 6 billion CNY operating loss posted in Q4 2024.

The ES8 has driven that profitability; the third-generation SUV reached its 90,000th delivery around the time of the April 2 launch event, roughly six months after its market debut. A comprehensive platform redesign for the 5566 series, based on NIO's third-generation architecture, is expected in 2027.

Whether incremental upgrades at unchanged prices are enough to shift purchase intent for four models overshadowed by their own flagship — or whether that fight is deferred until the next generation — is the question NIO's April order books will begin to answer.
