In third place in Hangzhou is the Xiaomi SU7, which sold 9,402 units, followed by the Li Auto L6 with 8,259 units.

In second is Suzhou, a city with a relatively much lower population of 5.89 million.

Suzhou ranked ahead of major population hubs like Shanghai (21.91 million), Chengdu (13.57 million), Beijing (18.96 million), Guangzhou (16.10 million), and Shenzhen (17.44 million).

Of the 45,145 Tesla vehicles sold in Suzhou, 33,031 were the Model Y and 12,114 were the Model 3.

TESLA CHINA SALES BY CITY

Shanghai sold 36,208 Tesla vehicles through the first 11 months, 25,462 Model Y and 10,746 Model 3.

Despite still ranking first, Tesla’s year-to-date sales with only one month left to the year suggest a significant YoY decline from 2023 sales, during which Tesla sold 55,021 Model Y and 18,303 Model 3.

The third and fourth best-selling NEVs in Shanghai through that same period were the BYD Yuan PLUS with 9,172 units and NIO ES6 with 8,684 units sold.

The city's policy of auctioning blue license plates for gasoline cars while offering free green plates for new energy vehicles has significantly incentivized electric vehicle sales.

The fourth to sixth places on the list, respectively, are Chengdu, Beijing, and Guangzhou with cumulative sales of more than 20,000 units as of November 2024.
