Huawei's first MPV, the Luxeed V9, will be launched early next year

The Luxeed V9, the first MPV developed under the Huawei-backed HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) program, is scheduled to launch in early 2026 in China. The model was formally announced during a livestream event on December 9, 2025, where the brand confirmed the vehicle will enter the market next spring with its latest intelligent-driving and cabin systems. The MPV expands the Huawei–Chery joint portfolio, which currently includes the R7 and S7.

Luxeed serves as the flagship brand within HIMA, where Huawei leads product definition, software, and intelligent-driving technology while Chery Automobile manages production and supply-chain execution through its subsidiary Anhui Zhijie New Energy Automobile Co. The V9 is being positioned for the high-end MPV segment that includes the Denza D9, Li Auto MEGA, and XPeng X9.

Pricing has not been released. The V9 is expected to be offered in both pure-electric and range-extended configurations, with battery supply for the electric variant provided by CATL. Deliveries are targeted for 2026.

The MPV is built on Huawei’s DriveONE 800V silicon-carbide platform and the E0X-L architecture. It uses Huawei’s Giant Whale battery system and a 192-line lidar module mounted on the roof.

The vehicle is configured to operate with Huawei’s QianKun ADS intelligent-driving suite, and final versions may deploy multiple lidar sensors. The vehicle length is estimated at about 5.3 meters with a width near 2 meters, using a short-overhang layout to maximize cabin space.

Exterior test images show a design aligned with Luxeed’s family styling, including a closed front fascia and paddle-shaped headlights. Prototype vehicles display a vertical tailgate, panoramic roof, and hidden sliding-door rails. Conventional door handles remain in use rather than a flush design to improve performance in cold climates.

Interior information disclosed during the event includes dual zero-gravity front seats, an electric-release and electric-closure front trunk, and dual rear storage drawers. A seven-seat layout is expected, supported by an upright roofline and long wheelbase.

The range-extended version is expected to use a large battery enabling about 400 kilometers (249 miles) of electric-only operation. The pure-electric configuration is expected to pair a battery around 100 kWh with 800V fast-charging capability.

With the V9, HIMA is entering a segment where electrified MPVs remain limited but are expanding alongside demand for larger family-oriented electric vehicles. The launch marks Huawei’s first entry into the MPV category and may signal how much weight intelligent-driving technology will carry in future high-capacity vehicles.
