Huawei's Luxeed R7 Reaches 1/4 of Model Y Weekly Sales Volume in China

The Chery-Huawei partnership through the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance has led to the launch of a worthy Model Y competitor, the Luxeed R7.

The R7 was launched on September 24 with a pure electric version only priced at 259,800 to 339,800 CNY and is directly benchmarked against the Tesla Model Y.

In just over two months, the R7 has already delivered over 20,000 units and will expect the debut of its extended-range version on December 19.

In November 2024, Luxeed delivered over 11,000 R7 despite being priced higher than the Model Y, which starts at 249,900 CNY.

Luxeed delivered 3,250 R7 and 150 S7 through the 50th week of 2024, the 6th consecutive week of delivery WoW growth for the R7.

The Luxeed R7’s popularity is all the more impressive considering that it debuted alongside several major contenders in the same category, including the Luxeed R7, Zeekr 7x, AVATR 07, Onvo L60, IM LS6, and XPeng G6.

Notably, Luxeed R7 has consistently ramped up since mid-September, from just 410 R7 in W39 to 3,250 in W50.

By comparison, Tesla delivered 12,870 Model Y, roughly 4 times the R7’s sales volume.

Moreover, the R7 jumped the Zeekr 7X and other Tesla Model Y “contenders” on W49 and remains well ahead of other brands in W50 (Dec. 9-15).

Based on weekly deliveries, the Luxeed R7 has delivered a total of 20,980 vehicles since launch and we can expect another uplift with the EREV version debut.

Through that same period, Tesla sold 120,070 Model Y. Meanwhile, Zeekr, XPeng, and Onvo delivered 28,930 7X, 12,600 G6, and 13,530 L60, respectively.
