Huawei's new AITO M8 and refreshed M9 receive 70,000 pre-orders in 84 hours

On March 6, Huawei-Seres automotive alliance via Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) launched two new AITO vehicles, including the all-new AITO M8 and refreshed AITO M9 SUV.

Both models started pre-orders on launch day, with starting prices of 368,000 CNY and 478,000 CNY respectively and broke new records within just 84 hours.

The M8 received 7,500 pre-orders within 1 hour, 21,000 within 6 hours, 28,000 within 12 hours, and ultimately 47,000 within 84 hours.

Meanwhile, the M9 reached 3,800 pre-orders within 1 hour, 11,000 within 6 hours, and 13,500 units 12 hours, eventually surpassing 23,000 within 84 hours.

The AITO M8's dimensions are 5,190/1,999/1,795 mm (L/W/H), with a wheelbase of 3,105 mm, offering 5-seat and 6-seat layouts and positioning it as a mid-to-large SUV.

The new SUV is equipped with two sizes of ternary lithium-ion batteries with capacities of 51.975 kWh and 36.019 kWh, corresponding to pure electric ranges of 235/240 km and 161 km, with an official claimed comprehensive range of 1526 km, according to CLTC standards.

The AITO M8 extended-range version is equipped with a 1.5T, 118 kW range extender, using front 165 kW and rear 227 kW drive motors, with a top speed of 200 km/h.

The refreshed AITO M9 model continues to offer both EREV and pure electric variants, and is equipped with CATL ternary lithium-ion batteries.

The vehicle dimensions are slightly larger than the M8, measuring 5,230/1,999/1,800 mm (L/W/H), with a wheelbase of 3,110 mm.

The M8 refresh is expected to feature four LiDAR sensors (front, rear, and both sides).

The extended-range version uses a Chongqing Xiaokang HG15T engine, with drive motors rated at 42 kW / 72 kW, peak drive motor power of 165 kW / 200 kW, and a maximum net engine power of 115 kW.

The pure electric version is equipped with Huawei Digital Energy Technology engines, with drive motors rated at 62 kW / 88 kW and peak power of 160 kW / 230 kW.
