HUAWEI's new extended-range Luxeed R7 offers up to 1,673 km in CLTC range

On April 17, the HIMA (Huawei Intelligent Mobility Alliance) | Luxeed Event was held in Shanghai.

Luxeed brand ambassador and world renowned actress Liu Yifei premiered the brand short film "Rose Aphorisms" and shared stories with owners, showcasing the brand’s uplifting spirit and pioneering passion for life.

At the event, Richard Yu announced that Luxeed’s cumulative firm orders have surpassed 130,000 units.

The brand also unveiled the new Luxeed R7 Extended-Range Edition (Max & Ultra variants), priced from 299,800 to 319,800 RMB, delivering enhanced performance and extended range.

Additionally, the Luxeed S7 introduced a sportier Ultra Sport trim at 329,800 RMB, along with new Frost Moon Silver paint options, sport package perks, and upgrade benefits for existing customers—directly responding to user demand.

The new Luxeed R7 Extended-Range Edition immediately becomes one of the best mid-range EREV SUV in the market for several reasons.

1. HUAWEI Extended-range system

As an extended-range EV, the powertrain is the star—and the Luxeed R7’s Huawei “Snow Owl Intelligent Silent Range Extension System” is in a league of its own.

The Huawei system leverages four core algorithms (optimal power generation planning, energy management, imperceptible engine engagement, and vibration suppression) to deliver near-silent operation rivaling pure EVs, eliminating the typical NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) issues of conventional range-extenders.

The system also achieves a remarkably low fuel consumption of 5.68L/100km (using 92-octane gasoline), reducing operating costs by 25% compared to traditional extended-range models.

2. Largest EREV battery?

Battery capacity directly impacts usability—and the Luxeed R7 Extended-Range Edition raises the bar. The Ultra variant comes standard with a 53.4 kWh battery (previously 37 kWh), enabling a CLTC pure-electric range of 331 km and a combined range of 1,551 km.

The Max variant pushes further, offering 360 km CLTC pure-electric range and a 1,673 km combined range—figures that dominate the segment.

With 300+ km of electric range, most urban commuters could go a full week without charging, completely alleviating range concerns, by and large resolved by the extended-range system already.

Even for long-distance travel (e.g., Shanghai to Beijing), the R7’s massive battery eliminates mid-journey refueling stops—outperforming gas cars in both convenience and cost efficiency.

Many are comparing the Luxeed R7 EREV version with the AITO M7 and Li Auto L6, two of the most popular mid-size EREV SUV in China, selling 193,342 and 192,257 units, respectively in 2024.

Both the M7 and L6 start at a lower price of 249,800 RMB. In terms of range, the M7 offers up to 230 km (pure electric) and 1,290 km (comprehensive CLTC), while the L6 delivers 212 km (pure electric) and 1,390 km (comprehensive CLTC).

So Luxeed R7 not only completely alleviate range concerns compared to pure electric vehicles, but it also far exceeds top-selling EREV vehicles, including Huawei’s own AITO M7.

3. Next-Gen Chassis & Driving Dynamics

The Luxeed R7 Extended-Range rides on the full-spec Turing Platform, featuring intelligent downhill cruise, active slip control, and active cornering systems for superior handling and safety.

Its front virtual-ball-joint double-wishbone + rear five-link suspension, paired with standard CDC damping and air suspension, leverages AI-driven software tuning to maximize mechanical performance.

Whether carving mountain roads or navigating rough terrain, the R7 delivers agility, comfort, and stability—elevating both daily drives and extreme scenarios.

4. Design & ADAS seals the deal

From a design standpoint, the R7 takes a page from Tesla Model Y’s coupe-SUV styling while moving the C-pillar forward and raising the D-pillar to achieve an unprecedented 2,638 mm cabin space and an 89% "usable space ratio"—solving traditional coupe-SUV compromises.

As you can expect from Huawei’s software capabilities, the HUAWEI advanced driving system (ADS) is as good as you can get in China (or anywhere) with all-weather, full-scenario perception, 360° collision avoidance, and human-like decision-making.

Its adaptive cruise, parking assistance, and proactive safety features stand atop of intelligent driving.
