Beijing Hyundai has officially unveiled the ELEXIO, its first SUV built on a dedicated pure electric platform as the joint venture between Hyundai Motor Company and BAIC Motor aims to reestablish its position in China’s competitive EV market.

The ELEXIO is scheduled to launch in the third quarter of 2025 and is built on Hyundai’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).

One of its banner features is a CLTC-rated range of up to 700 km, and the vehicle supports fast charging from 30% to 80% in 27 minutes.

The name “ELEXIO” is a newly coined term for this model and does not carry a legacy from Hyundai’s global lineup.

It was developed over five years specifically for the Chinese market, and the name appears to be designed to evoke a futuristic and electric identity.

Beijing Hyundai, the manufacturer, is a joint venture formed in 2002 between Hyundai Motor Company and BAIC Motor. It is headquartered in Shunyi, Beijing, and produces Hyundai-branded vehicles tailored for Chinese consumers.

Both variants are built on the 800V E-GMP architecture and are expected to deliver a top speed of 180 km/h.
