The reason for such a steep price reduction is clear as the new model is about to hit the market, and the older version is being cleared out.

According to the 395th batch of MIIT filings on May 23, the facelifted IM LS6 has been approved and is expected to officially launch in Q3 this year.

The new model features a completely different exterior design compared to the current version. The front fascia has been redesigned, eliminating the black trim and significantly enlarging the headlight cluster.

The daytime running lights, high/low beams, fog lights, and auxiliary lighting are now integrated into a single, more minimalist design while the side and rear profiles remain largely unchanged.

The LS6 almost borrows the design of the XPeng MONA M03, with a T-shaped headlight design, but instead of having a single-strip LED daytime running light running through it, the LS6’s LED strip runs through the entire “T”.

In terms of dimensions, the new LS6 measures 4,937 x 1,988 x 1,673 mm (L/W/H) with a 2,960 mm wheelbase.

Most notably, this update introduces a range-extended version for the first time, equipped with a 1.5T dedicated range extender producing 114 kW paired with a 230 kW single-motor RWD setup, with optional LFP or NCM batteries.

The pure electric versions continue to offer a 300 kW single-motor RWD and a 579 kW dual-motor AWD configuration, all featuring an 800V high-voltage platform and a top speed of 252 km/h.

The upgrade also features an all-new interior. Based on enlarged certification photos, the new LS6 will have a redesigned cabin.

The driver's full-width panoramic display is noticeably larger with a revamped UI supporting lane-level navigation integrated with SR driving info.

The front passenger gets a standalone large entertainment screen similar in style to the Li Auto L-Series while the steering wheel has been updated to match the new IM L6's full-width oval design.

Additionally, the ambient lighting, audio system, and seats have reportedly undergone comprehensive improvements, likely aligning with the recently launched IM L6.

In short, the new IM LS6 will debut IM's next-gen smart cabin design, creating a noticeable technological gap compared to the outgoing model.

The current IM LS6 remains a strong SUV model in terms of hardware and software, and with the latest limited-time fixed-price offer, it is a bargain.

Except the 239,900 RMB (33,400 USD) entry-level "Lizard Pilot" trim which is the only 400V variant in the lineup and isn't worth considering, the other versions still offer great competitiveness and user experience.

The current LS6 is a well-rounded product featuring the Falcon Intelligent Lighting System exterior and a cabin equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip plus a full-width display with Rainy Night Mode.

Its powertrain uses a quasi-900V high-voltage SiC platform while debuting the Lizard Digital Chassis and four-wheel steering, with high-end trims coming with air suspension plus CDC.

The ADAS system features an Orin-X chip with LiDAR supporting mapless urban NOA.

Compared to the upcoming new LS6 which will likely align with the IM L6, the biggest changes will be in the front cabin screens along with upgrades like the Lizard Digital Chassis 2.0 supporting greater rear-wheel steering angles and the next-gen 3.0 Centralized E/E Architecture with unified and coordinated control while retaining the 900V platform, Snapdragon 8295, and single Orin-X ADAS.

The new 3.0 architecture offers greater OTA potential while the Lizard Digital Chassis 2.0 brings more advanced dynamics.

Most importantly, with the addition of the range-extended version, the new LS6's pricing could be very attractive and definitely worth anticipating.
