On November 20, 2025, NIO’s sub-brand Onvo introduced the L90 Black Knight Edition at the Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition, expanding its large electric SUV lineup with a limited-run model. Production is capped at 999 units, with deliveries scheduled to begin in early December.

Hong Kong superstar Louis Koo appeared with the vehicle during its debut; coincidentally, the final character of his Chinese name (古天乐) matches the first character of Onvo’s Chinese name (乐道).

The introduction comes as the L90 continues to register strong sales performance following its launch on July 31, 2025. Onvo delivered 10,575 units in August, 10,997 units in September, and 11,776 units in October, totaling 33,294 units in the first three months of availability.

The model has been positioned as a high-volume competitor in China’s full-size electric SUV segment, offered with both six-seat and seven-seat layouts.

The Black Knight Edition serves as a higher-priced configuration that incorporates multiple optional features as standard. The Black Knight Edition is priced at 306,800 CNY (c. $43,100) with the battery included, a premium of 41,000 CNY over the standard entry price of 265,800 CNY. Under the Battery-as-a-Service plan, customers may purchase the vehicle for 220,800 CNY (c. $31,000) without a battery and pay a monthly fee of 899 CNY (c. $130).

The pricing places the variant above the regular trims while remaining below the cost of other full-size electric SUVs sold domestically.

The model retains the same dimensions as the standard L90, measuring 5,145 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,786 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,110 mm. Built on a 900-V pure-electric architecture, the vehicle uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 440 kW.

Equipped with an 85-kWh battery, the vehicle achieves an estimated 570 km (354 miles) under the CLTC test cycle. Cargo capacity includes a 240-liter powered front trunk and a 430-liter rear trunk.

The exterior adopts a complete black design across the body, wheels, trim, and badges. Standard equipment includes 21-inch wheels and power side steps. The interior uses a six-seat, 2-2-2 configuration with a brown color scheme. The second-row right seat features a zero-gravity recline function. These items correspond to options that are normally added individually on other variants.

The Black Knight Edition is displayed in Hall 17.2 of Zone D at the Guangzhou auto show, located opposite Xiaomi EV. NIO’s primary brand and its Firefly sub-brand occupy a separate booth in Hall 20.2. The exhibition runs from November 21 to 30, with public attendance beginning on November 22.

Onvo delayed the launch of its next model, the L80 five-seat SUV, to the first half of 2026 due to factory capacity limits. The release of the L90 Black Knight Edition indicates continued use of special-edition variants as Onvo works to strengthen its position in China’s competitive full-size electric SUV segment.
