Official all-new NIO ES8 configuration page reveals over 6 months waiting time

During a livestream, NIO’s Head of User Operations Yang Bo revealed that the production capacity of the all-new ES8 has been sold out for 2025.

The official configuration page of the NIO ES8 shows an estimated delivery waiting time of 24 to 26 weeks, more than 6 months for anyone placing an order today.

It was previously announced that the monthly production capacity will reach 15,000 units in December and that the total capacity for 2025 would be increased to 40,000 ES8 to cope with the demand.

However, the estimated waiting time implies that NIO may have more than 60,000 locked-in orders in hand.

Yang Bo also mentioned that changes made to the car’s configurations before September 30 will not require rejoining the queue.

The newly launched ES8 comes with a highly competitive price point, especially when compared to the previous-generation ES8 NT2.0, which started at ¥498,000 and only included a 75 kWh battery pack.

By contrast, the new ES8 not only offers a larger 102 kWh battery as standard, but also starts significantly lower at ¥406,800 or ¥298,800 with BaaS plan, making it one of the most attractively priced flagship SUVs NIO has ever introduced.

By comparison, the sub-brand’s Onvo L90, which was considered a blockbuster model, has a 7-9 weeks waiting time and has sold over 10,000 units in its first month.

Early buyers who lock in before December 31, 2025, will receive five years of free NOP+ smart driving assistance and a ¥2,980 “first-class cabin” accessory set with pillows, sunshades, plush mats, a front trunk organizer, and fragrance kit.

Founding owners also gain six years of free connectivity, six years or 150,000 km warranty, 10-year unlimited mileage powertrain coverage, and lifetime roadside assistance.

NIO is also offering loyalty incentives: first-generation ES8 owners get ¥12,000 renewal vouchers, Founders Edition buyers get an additional 20,000-point credit, and other existing NIO customers receive rebates or points worth up to ¥20,000.

For customers unable to take delivery in 2025 due to limited supply, NIO has promised to cover next year’s purchase tax increases.
