On January 23, 2026, Onvo officially launched the L90 “Ma Dao Cheng Gong” edition in China, priced from CNY 296,800 or CNY 210,800 under BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service), with deliveries starting February 2026. Vehicles arrived at dealerships the same day and customer deliveries scheduled to begin on February 1, 2026.

The new edition expands the L90 lineup with a themed variant positioned at the top of the range and offered under both full-vehicle purchase and battery leasing plans. Onvo is a mass-market electric vehicle brand under NIO (NYSE:NIO), positioned below NIO’s premium lineup. The L90 is Onvo’s flagship large pure-electric SUV and is built on a full-domain 900V high-voltage platform.

The base L90 model entered the market in July 2025, with deliveries beginning on August 1, 2025. Over the following five months, the model recorded 43,369 deliveries, ranking as one of China’s top-selling large pure-electric SUVs in 2025. However, sales momentum declined significantly in November 2025, from 11,722 units delivered in October to just 5,970. December continued that downtrend with 4,105 deliveries.

The “Ma Dao Cheng Gong” edition is based on the existing L90 Max and Ultra six-seat variants. Under the full vehicle purchase model, pricing is set at CNY 296,800 and CNY 316,800 (approximately $42,600 and $45,500).

Under the BaaS battery leasing scheme, prices fall to CNY 210,800 and CNY 230,800 (approximately $30,300 and $33,100). Buyers are eligible for purchase incentives of up to CNY 19,000.

Under the BaaS structure, the battery is excluded from the vehicle purchase price and is not subject to purchase tax, in line with China’s national new-energy vehicle tax policy. Onvo has positioned battery leasing as a central element of the L90’s value proposition in the large electric SUV segment.

The “Ma Dao Cheng Gong” edition comes standard with CNY 38,470 (c. $5,500) worth of customization, including a Condensed Night Purple exterior paint finish, 21-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, wing-style electric running boards, and dedicated door sill trim. Lighting includes intelligent interactive headlights with adaptive driving beam functionality.

The L90 measures 5,145 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,766 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,110 mm. Inside, the vehicle retains the L90’s six-seat layout and adds themed elements, including embroidered headrests, exclusive steering wheel trim, and a dedicated in-vehicle system interface.

Interior materials include dual-tone Nappa leather in brown and beige. Standard comfort features across the L90 range include a rear entertainment screen, fold-out tables, an onboard refrigerator, second-row zero-gravity seating, and a large third-row seating area.

The L90 is offered in rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. The rear-wheel-drive version uses a single rear motor rated at 340 kW, delivering a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 5.9 seconds. The all-wheel-drive version combines a 100 kW front motor with a 340 kW rear motor for a total system output of 440 kW and a 0–100 km/h time of 4.7 seconds.

Both variants are equipped with an 85 kWh battery pack. CLTC-rated range is 605 km (376 miles) for the rear-wheel-drive model and 570 km (354 miles) for the all-wheel-drive version.

To support BaaS customers, Onvo invested approximately CNY 600 million by the end of 2025 to deploy more than 8,000 additional battery packs nationwide. The company has stated that this expansion enables three-minute battery swaps delivering up to 600 km (373 miles) of driving range, including during peak holiday travel periods.

With the “Ma Dao Cheng Gong” edition now positioned as the most expensive L90 variant, Onvo is testing how far themed differentiation and battery leasing can boost demand in China’s increasingly crowded large electric SUV market.
