Of that total, Tesla delivered 10,600 units of the new Model Y “Juniper”, the first time Tesla has exceeded the 10,000 mark this year in China.
Tesla also delivered 6,300 Model 3, improving for a third consecutive week, from 5,100 in Week 10 and 5,800 in W11.

Most importantly, weekly insurance registrations have evidenced so far a stable production ramp up of the Model Y facelift in China, which started delivery last month, on February 26.
In fact, registrations picked up rapidly in week 9 (Feb 24 - Mar 2), which includes 4 days of new Model Y delivery, with 6,700 units (compared to 350 in W8).
Then that figure improved to 8,700 in W10, 9,500 in W11, and 10,600 in W12.

Through March 3 to 23, Tesla China has already delivered 46,000 vehicles, including 28,800 new Model Y.
At this pace, Tesla will likely be able to deliver over 40,000 new Model Y in the first full month of launch.
The sales performance of the Model Y Juniper will have major ramifications on the company’s plan and timing to launch a stripped-down version of the SUV, under codename “E41”.

The more affordable E41 is expected address the intense market competition in China, saturated with Model Y-like models, like the Luxeed R7, XPeng G6, Zeekr 7X and Onvo L60.
The Model Y Juniper was launched on January 10, 2025, and by end of February, local news outlet 36Kr interviewed several sales staff in Beijing claiming that Tesla China had already received 200,000 orders, with many of those refundable at the time.

While the remaining order backlog is uncertain, the Model Y RWD version’s estimated delivery time was shortened from 4-8 weeks previously to 1-4 weeks, as a result of production capacity ramp up.
