On October 31, 2025, Tesla began rolling out software version 2025.32.300 in China for its Model Y L, unlocking a new Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature that enables the vehicle to supply power externally.
The update also brings three additional enhancements: the Rave Cave entertainment mode now remembers user-profile settings; Dog Mode’s minimum cabin temperature can now be set to 18 °C; and a newly added Low Power Mode allows the vehicle to turn off high-consumption features when its battery falls below a threshold set by the user.

With the V2L capability, the Model Y L supports use of Tesla’s forthcoming official outlet adapter to export power from its high-voltage battery, enabling external devices or appliances to draw energy from the vehicle.
Tesla confirmed that while its Model Y Performance variant has the hardware for V2L, the Model Y L is the first in Tesla’s global product line to receive a software activation of the function.

Tesla highlighted that the update is being deployed in batches and that feature availability may vary depending on vehicle configuration. No firm release date has been given for the outlet adapter accessory. In comparable EVs, V2L systems typically offer between 3.6 kW and 9.6 kW of output.
The activation of V2L on the Model Y L positions Tesla ahead of its global peers in rolling out bi-directional power capabilities for its vehicles, raising questions about when the company will expand the feature across its broader model range.
