Tesla has extended delivery estimates for the long-range versions of the Model Y in China to 4–13 weeks, reflecting strong demand and tightening availability toward the end of 2025. The update appears on Tesla China’s official configuration page, which now warns that buyers must select in-stock units to ensure delivery before December 31, 2025.
The longer wait times come two weeks after Tesla introduced a new long-range rear-wheel-drive Model Y with an 821 km CLTC range (510 miles), priced at 288,500 CNY (c. $40,600). The model was added to China’s national catalogue of new-energy vehicles eligible for purchase-tax exemptions and was confirmed for market release on November 8, 2025. Early store reports indicated demand equivalent to several weeks of production on launch day.
Tesla China (NASDAQ:TSLA) currently lists four Model Y trims. The standard RWD version is priced at 263,500 CNY (c. $37,100) with a 593 km CLTC range. The new long-range RWD variant sits above it at 288,500 CNY (c. $40,600) with an 821 km range. The long-range AWD version is priced at 313,500 CNY (c. $44,100) with a 750 km range, while the Model Y L variant is listed at 339,000 CNY (c. $47,700).

Tesla is also running two year-end promotions. Orders placed through the referral rewards program by November 30 (inclusive) receive an 8,000 CNY customized options package. Buyers who order any non-limited-edition model by the same deadline may apply for a five-year 0-interest financing plan when securing a loan. These offers appear at the top of Tesla China’s configurator.
Technical specifications for the new long-range RWD variant include a 78.4 kWh ternary lithium-ion battery, shared with the long-range rear-wheel-drive Model 3. The rear motor produces 225 kW, enabling 0–100 km/h acceleration in approximately 5.6 seconds. Top speed is listed at 201 km/h (125 mph). The model’s exterior dimensions remain unchanged at 4,797 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, 1,624 mm in height, with a 2,890 mm wheelbase.
Tesla confirmed that the new configuration does not require separate showroom or test-drive units, due to its similarity to existing RWD models. However, demand has pushed delivery estimates from an initial 2–4 weeks to 4–6 weeks, and the company has now aligned both long-range configurations—RWD and AWD—at 4–13 weeks on its order page.

The extended delivery timeline appears as Tesla continues to face pressure from local competitors including Xiaomi, Huawei-linked AITO, and XPeng (NYSE:XPEV). The new long-range RWD variant offers one of the longest published CLTC range among mid-size electric SUVs in its class at this price level.
At Tesla’s 2025 annual shareholder meeting, Elon Musk said Tesla expects to obtain full approval for FSD services in China by February or March 2026, following partial operational approval already granted. If FSD becomes fully authorized, Tesla may see further demand for long-range trims equipped for software-based feature upgrades.
Whether Tesla can maintain this pace of long-range orders into 2026 will depend on production planning at Gigafactory Shanghai and the competitive response from domestic EV manufacturers.
