Tesla has released Full Self-Driving (Supervised) v14.2.1 as part of software update 2025.38.9.6, expanding the system’s vision capabilities, safety responses, and parking controls. The update is available across Tesla Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y and Cybertruck vehicles equipped with Hardware 4.
The company upgraded the neural network vision encoder with higher-resolution features designed to improve detection of emergency vehicles, obstacles and human gestures. This improvement first appeared in FSD v14.2 and is carried forward in the current release.

FSD v14.2.1 integrates navigation and routing directly into the vision-based neural network. Tesla said this enables real-time responses to blocked roads and detours without relying solely on map-based instructions. The update also introduces a new Speed Profile option to give users additional ability to customize vehicle driving behavior under supervised operation.
The system’s handling of emergency vehicles has been extended to include pulling over or yielding to police cars, fire trucks and ambulances. Tesla added improvements for vehicle behavior around static and dynamic gates and updated logic for offsetting around road debris such as tires, tree branches and boxes. The release also includes refinements to unprotected turns, lane changes, vehicle cut-ins and interactions with school buses.

Tesla said the update improves FSD’s capability to manage system faults and recover from degraded operation to maintain reliability. Interior windshield residue detection has been added, enabling the vehicle to alert the driver when build-up may reduce front camera visibility. The company advised affected drivers to schedule service for cleaning.
FSD v14.2.1 also enables automatic narrow-field washing for the front camera, providing rapid cleaning functionality for vehicles that support the feature. Aerodynamics-assisted washing is activated at higher speeds on the 2026 and later Model Y.

Tesla said camera visibility conditions may lead to increased attention monitoring sensitivity. This adjustment is included as a new behavior in FSD v14.2.1 and is intended to ensure that driver supervision remains consistent when visibility is reduced.
Alongside the released features, Tesla listed ongoing development areas. The company is working on improvements to overall smoothness and "sentience," and is developing updates to enhance parking spot selection and parking quality.
