On March 8, Tesla CEO Elon Musk reposted a video post by Sawyer Merritt on social platform X about Tesla's self-driving taxi, the Cybercab.

The original X post stated, "Tesla Cybercab is autonomously cruising around Giga Texas today. Can't wait until these things are everywhere on public roads."

The video featured a golden Tesla Cybercab driving through the Gigafactory in Texas.

The Tesla Cybercab is a two-door coupe with scissor-wing doors unveiled last October at Tesla's "WE, ROBOT" event.

Musk announced that the showcased Robotaxi, named Cybercab, will not have a steering wheel and pedals and will be priced under 30,000 USD (approximately 217,000 CNY) and is set to go into production in 2026.

Tesla's Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen revealed in an interview that the golden paint job of the Cybercab pays homage to New York's yellow taxis while giving it a more futuristic look.

"We chose gold, a very special color," von Holzhausen said in the video. "It truly reflects the concept of New York City's yellow taxi in a futuristic version.

This is our vision of the iconic yellow, giving it a more expressive and modern interpretation."
