On July 22, 2024, BYD announced that the BYD Song PLUS exceeded 1 million unit sales on July 20, which is the first and fastest new energy SUV to reach that mark in China.
The Song PLUS was first launched in March 2021, more than three years ago. Just 25 months later, the Song PLUS has stabilized at the 30,000 sales volume level. It also only took 17 months for sales to go from 500,000 to 1 million units.

On July 25, BYD will be officially releasing the 2025 BYD Song PLUS DM-i, the first SUV to come with the company's 5th-generation DM technology.
The BYD Song PLUS comes in two versions, the DM-i (hybrid) and EV (pure electric). In January, this vehicle produced the 800,000th Song PLUS, which at the time made it the best-selling PHEV SUV model for two and a half years in a row and 427,071 Song PLUS sold in 2023.
Already one of the best value on the market, BYD further introduced an even more cost-effective version of the car called the "Honor Edition" in February this year, starting at only CNY 129,800.

The 2024 Honor Edition features a 1.5L 110 horsepower L4 plug-in hybrid engine and a 12.9 kWh BYD Blade battery capable of 71 km of NEDC range. Fuel consumption is highly efficient at 5.4L per 100 km and power output is respectable with 110 Ps in engine power and 145 kW in motor power.
The Song PLUS measures 4,775 / 1,890 / 1,670 mm in length, width, and height, respectively, and 2.765 mm in wheelbase. Despite the size, the car is very nimble with a 5.55-meter turning radius. The other vehicle trims can offer longer ranges of either 110 km (18.3 kWh) or 150 km (26.6 kWh) at similar energy efficiency levels.
The BYD Song PLUS directly competes with the Changan UNI-Z iDD and Geely's Galaxy L7.
