Chery’s premium brand Exeed launched the ET5 extended-range SUV in China on November 28, 2025, adding a mid-size model equipped with long electric range, a LiDAR option, and an end-to-end intelligent-driving system.
The model first appeared at the 2025 Chengdu Auto Show, and the company positioned the vehicle in the 150,000 CNY segment to expand its extended-range portfolio.
Notably, the model shares the same name as NIO’s ET5, which was unveiled on December 18, 2021. However, aside from the name, Exeed’s ET5 a completely different vehicle.

Exeed operates under Chery, a state-owned Chinese automaker developing combustion, hybrid, and electric models across multiple nameplates. The brand has been expanding its higher-end lineup with increased focus on software-defined features and intelligent-driving functions.
The ET5 enters a plug-in market that saw 2.86 million units sold between January and October 2025, up 32% year on year, with extended-range systems rising from 28% of the segment in 2024 to 41% in 2025.

Orders and deliveries opened at launch. Most mid-size extended-range SUVs in China are priced between 150,000 and 200,000 CNY, placing the ET5 at the lower end of the segment.
The vehicle measures 4,780 × 1,890 × 1,720/1,725 mm with a 2,800 mm wheelbase and a five-seat layout. The exterior features split headlights and a full-width rear light bar.

The cabin integrates a 15.6-inch center display, 10.25-inch instrument panel, and 12.3-inch passenger screen, driven by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8255 platform. Color options include Warm Sun Beige and Dawn Orange, with a 21-speaker 1,080 W audio system available.
The ET5 uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged range-extender rated at 115 kW, a 32.66 kWh LFP battery from Gotion High-Tech, and a single front-motor rated at 195 kW and 324 N·m. The company published a CLTC electric-only range of 205–210 km (127–130 miles) and an overall range of about 1,300 km (808 miles).
Fast charging from 30% to 80% requires less than 15 minutes. The battery completed 41 structural and thermal tests, including a 200 kN compression test and a 105-second fire exposure.

The intelligent-driving system uses the Horizon Journey 6P processor, a single-chip platform rated at 560 TOPS, and supports Horizon’s end-to-end HSD architecture. The system uses 27 sensors, including one LiDAR on the higher trim, three millimeter-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic sensors.
Supported functions include highway and city NOA, lane changing, construction detours, narrow-road interaction, and roundabout traversal, with parking coverage across more than 300 scenarios.

Standard equipment includes a panoramic sunroof, 540-degree imaging, tire-pressure monitoring, Auto Hold, and a power liftgate. Higher trims offer a knee airbag, seat ventilation and massage, facial recognition, and a passenger seat with extended leg support.
The ET5 adds a long-range, single-chip intelligent SUV to Exeed’s mid-size lineup and raises questions about how Chery plans to differentiate software-defined models as it broadens its electrified portfolio.
