Top 5 largest EV frunks in China

In China’s cutthroat automotive environment, automakers continuously find ways to differentiate their vehicles on top of competitive pricing. One of which is to offer more space than ever before with a front trunk (frunk) that Tesla made it a staple across vehicle lineup.

Of the largest available frunks in China, all five are from electric vehicles that were launched in 2025; a testament of how competitive the market is. Given that fully electric vehicle models do not have to account for a gas engine, front storage are made possible.

Frunks are particularly important for large three rows, six-seat SUVs, which have limited cargo space to fit the last passenger row. So which are the top 5 largest frunks? Spoiler alert, Tesla did not make it to the list.

4 - Deepal S05

Unlike most EVs in this list, the Deepal S05 is a compact SUV, making its 159 liter frunk all the more impressive. The SUV measures 4,620 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,880 mm.

It is even more compact than a Tesla Model Y, which measures 4,797 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,624 mm in height, with a 2,890 mm wheelbase. Despite this, the S05 boasts a larger frunk compared to the Model Y's 117L front cargo space.

Similar to the AITO M8, the Deepal S05 is available in both EREV and EV versions. However, the cargo space in the EV model is far superior, featuring a 651-liter trunk compared to a 464-liter trunk in the EREV model, without even taking into account its massive frunk.

BYD Han L is also the only sedan model in this frunk ranking, but as the Large version of the original Han, the sedan measures over 5-meter long, with dimensions that make such front storage possible.
