What are the 5 Most Expensive Electric Vehicles in China?
globalchinaev
| Jul 24In this list of China's most expensive electric vehicles, we will include vehicles that are not necessarily manufactured in China, but can also be imported.
Note that imported cars are subject to significant amounts of additional fees, including import duty, VAT, consumption tax, and more. But for this list, we will only rank vehicles by their official retail prices.
This list also only includes EVs that have been purchased in 2024 to ensure that any exhorbitant pricing has actual market demand.
With that, let's dive into it!
Yangwang U9 (CNY 1,680,000)
The Yangwang U9 is a fully electric supercar introduced by BYD at the Auto Shanghai show in April 6, 2023 and went on sale in February 2024.

The Yangwang U9 was designed by Wolfgang Egger, who joined BYD in 2017 and was previously the head designer at Lamborghini, Audi, and Alfa Romeo.
This supercar is equipped with four electric motors capable of 960 kW (1,305 Ps) in total power output, enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 2.36 seconds and a top speed of 309 km/h.

The Yangwang also comes with BYD's "DiSuS" active suspension system, behind the viral videos in China of the U9's vertical leaps.
The Yangwang U9 offers a respectable range of 450 km (CLTC) and is also built on 800V architecture, which reduces charging time to as low as 30% to 80% in 10 minutes.
