The Xiaomi SU7 has been crowned the 2024 Weibo Car of the Year in China, a prestigious accolade determined through a combination of expert evaluations and public voting.

The Weibo Car of the Year award, organized by Sina and backed by over 100 automotive Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and professional media figures, alongside millions of voters, is a strong barometer of consumer sentiment.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun took to Weibo to express his gratitude, stating, “This recognition is a testament to our commitment to innovation and excellence in the EV space.”

The company’s first electric vehicle also won ByteDance’s automotive information platform 2024 Car of the Year award on December 24, 2024.

Xiaomi Chairman Lei Jun announced on March 28, 2024 the official launch of the Xiaomi SU7 with the standard version priced at 215,900 CNY.

Three months later, Xiaomi ramped up monthly deliveries to over 10,000 units and later reached a volume of 20,000 monthly units by October 2024.

On November 18, Lei Jun announced that Xiaomi has already exceeded its annual target of 100,000 deliveries and pushed that goal post to 130,000 units by year-end.

By year-end, Xiaomi not only beat its new annual target, but exceeded it with nearly 140,000 units delivered through April to December 2024.

During the last 3 months, monthly deliveries blew past 20,000 units, reaching a single month record of 25,815 retail sales in December.

Xiaomi fans will soon have another vehicle choice as the company unveiled its 2nd model, an electric SUV called YU7 in early December.

The Xiaomi YU7 will debut some time in June or July of next year, with similar design language to the SU7 with body dimensions and shapes reminiscent of the Ferrari Purosangue.
