Xiaomi YU7 will feature BYD and CATL batteries with up to 820 km in CLTC range

On February 17, battery and range information about Xiaomi’s first SUV model, the YU7, were released in the latest MIIT catalogue.
The Xiaomi YU7 will offer two variants: rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive.

The rear-wheel-drive version is equipped with a 96.3 kWh BYD lithium Iron phosphate battery, with a total battery weight of 719 kg, and CLTC ranges of 820 km, 810 km, and 725 km, depending on the tire size.
The all-wheel-drive model features a 101.7 kWh CATL ternary tithium battery, with a total battery weight of 666 kg, and CLTC ranges of 760 km, 750 km, and 670 km.

For comparison, the Xiaomi SU7 currently offers three battery pack options: 73.6 kWh, 94.3 kWh, and 101 kWh, with the first two being BYD Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries and the latter being an all-wheel-drive exclusive CATL Ternary Lithium battery, with CLTC ranges of 700 km, 830 km, and 800 km respectively.

On the other hand, the new Model Y “Juniper” launched on January 10 features a 62.5 kWh CATL lithium iron phosphate battery on the RWD variant capable of 593 km and a 78.4 kWh LG ternary lithium battery on the AWD variant with up 719 km in CLTC range.

The Tesla Model Y RWD and AWD are priced at 263,500 CNY and 303,500 CNY, respectively and deliveries are expected to begin in March.
1,310 kilometers long-distance road test by Lei Jun
On February 8, 2025, Xiaomi Founder, Chairman, and CEO Lei Jun stated that he participated in a long-distance winter test drive of the Xiaomi YU7, focusing on ADAS and range.

Lei Jun mentioned: "This test drive began at 6:10 AM and ended at 9:10 PM. I drove 1,310 kilometers, mostly on highways, with an average speed of over 100 km/h.

The lowest temperature on the road was -10°C, with two charging and rest stops in between. The YU7 performed well, and we successfully completed the task!"
