Xiaomi YU9 SUV renderings emerge online ahead of 2026 debut

On October 27, 2025, renders of Xiaomi’s third model, a full-size SUV codenamed “Kunlun” and expected to carry the name YU9, appeared across Chinese social media, ahead of the planned 2026 launch.

The YU9 is positioned to serve the high-end family market with three-row seat configurations, directly targeting competitors such as the Li Auto L9 and the Aito M9. The vehicle will exceed 5.2 m in length and carry a wheelbase of around 3.1 m — dimensions consistent with the full-size SUV class.

Based on spy photos and renders, the exterior design is reminiscent of a Range Rover. Xiaomi has previously borrowed design cues from the Ferrari Purosangue for the YU7 and from the Porsche Taycan for the SU7.

Xiaomi YU9’s price range in China will likely fall between 350,000 - 450,000 CNY (c. $49,300–63,400), considering that the 5-seater SUV YU7 is priced between 253,500 - 329,900 CNY (c. $35,700 - $46,500) .

The YU9 is expected to feature a range-extender hybrid (EREV) powertrain rather than a pure battery electric vehicle, by relying on a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine serving as a generator for a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup.

Total output is estimated around 400 hp and the combined driving range may stretch up to about 1,500 km, while the pure-electric portion will likely exceed 200 km. The vehicle also supports an 800-volt architecture for fast charging in its battery-only mode.

The renderings revealed a closed-grille front fascia with a full-width LED light bar above the bumper and a separate slim headlamp cluster, extending the design language seen in Xiaomi’s earlier models.

Based on spy photos, the second-row doors reportedly open close to 90 degrees and feature built-in manual sunshades. A grab handle is positioned on the B-pillar, while the low floor — likely due to air suspension — facilitates easier entry and exit.

The side profile features a floating roof design and flush door handles; the tail incorporates a full-width tail-lamp bar and a prominent XIAOMI badge. Inside, the YU9 will offer a six-seat or seven-seat layout, second-row independent captain seats, and third-row legroom of around 890 mm.

Xiaomi will become the latest new energy brand that launches an extended range model after introducing only battery electric vehicles. Moreover, the YU9 will help Xiaomi move up-market as three-row, full-size SUVs command a premium and typically start above the 300,000 CNY price level in China.

Conversion rate: 1 USD = 7.098 CNY as of October 28, 2025.
