XPeng partners with Huawei XHUD

On June 5, Xpeng unveiled the "Chasing Light Panorama" head-up display (HUD) system, jointly developed with Huawei, called the XHUD.

This is particularly a surprising joint effort given that both companies are widely recognized as the best-in-class ADAS systems in the Chinese EV market.

Xpeng's "Chasing Light Panorama" head-up display system will feature full-scenario Augmented Reality (AR) lane-level navigation capability, with a display size of 87 inches and a resolution of 1920 × 1080.

The HUD display can show relevant information such as vehicle range, assisted driving activation status, speed limits, lane lines, vehicle speed, and navigation.

It can also project a “light carpet” to show the navigation route directly onto the real road, providing drivers with functions such as complex intersection guidance, long solid-line lane changes, bus lane changes, traffic light start-stop indications, lane change waiting, lane change overtaking, narrow road assistance, "ghost pedestrian" warnings, and side/rear warnings.

The system boasts 100 milliseconds of low latency, 12,000 nits of brightness, and an 1800:1 contrast ratio. It also includes AR anti-shake, slope compensation, latency compensation, and distortion correction algorithms to minimize display distortion within 1%.
