On June 3, Sun Shaojun, founder of Carfans, revealed that XPeng Motors received over 20,000 new orders last week (May 26th to June 1st). In comparison, XPeng's new orders from May 19th to May 25th were 7,000 units, indicating a nearly 200% increase.

This surge in new orders for XPeng is partly due to the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, which led to an increase in showroom visits. Another significant factor is the launch of the XPeng MONA M03 Max. This is currently XPeng's most affordable model that supports advanced intelligent assisted driving.

At 7:00 PM on May 28th, XPeng Motors held the XPeng MONA Trendy Play Party and M03 Max New Car Launch Event, where they updated the XPeng MONA M03 series.

The XPeng MONA M03 Max sets a new standard for smart EVs starting at just 129,800 RMB (c. 18,000 USD). This model integrates XPeng’s XNGP intelligent driving system, features the Snapdragon 8295 cockpit platform, and includes dual NVIDIA Orin-X chips with a combined computing power of 508 TOPS. The vehicle is also equipped with dual front-facing cameras, seven perception cameras, and three millimeter-wave radars.

This sophisticated sensor and chip configuration, typically found in XPeng’s more expensive G6 Max and G9 Max models, enables the MONA M03 Max to offer advanced capabilities such as high-speed navigation-assisted driving, automatic lane changing, ramp entry and exit, reverse tracking, remote parking, and voice-controlled smart parking.

These features significantly raise the bar for driver assistance systems in its price category, providing intelligent driving assistance capabilities on par with the XPeng X9.

The MONA M03 Max was launched with two range variants: a 502 km version priced at 129,800 RMB (18,000 USD) and a 600 km version priced at 139,800 RMB (19,400 USD).

XPeng also released two new Plus versions: a 515 km Long-Range Plus priced at 119,800 RMB ($16,600 USD) and a 620 km Ultra Long-Range Plus priced at 129,800 RMB ($18,000 USD).

Within just one hour of its announcement, the Max and Plus versions of the MONA M03 received 12,566 confirmed orders, with the Max version accounting for 83% of the total, surpassing initial order volumes from the previous year's launch.

This success is further driven by its enhanced performance—the Max version's motor output is increased to 160 kW (218 horsepower) with 250 Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds.

It also features a larger 62.2 kWh battery for a CLTC-rated range of 580 km. Furthermore, the Max variant is equipped with a 15.6-inch 2.5K central screen, the XOS Tianji operating system, front seat heating and ventilation, and support for wireless Apple CarPlay, CarLife, and Huawei HiCar.

Chairman He Xiaopeng even claimed that the MONA M03 Max’ intelligent driving system performs as well as premium EVs priced at the 500,000 RMB level, offering exceptional value considering its advanced features and pricing, which is half the cost of Tesla's FSD software in China.

He further added that the XPeng MONA M03 is currently the best-selling pure electric A-segment sedan in the Chinese automotive market, with over 120,000 units delivered accumulatively in nine months since its launch.
