XPeng Overtakes Li Auto At No.1 In Emerging NEV Automaker Ranking

XPeng has overtaken Li Auto to become the top emerging NEV automaker in weekly sales, according to the latest figures released by Li Auto on January 7.

In the first week of 2025, XPeng sold 7,000 units, surpassing Li Auto by 300 units. The third to fifth spots were occupied by AITO, Zeekr, and Xiaomi, with Leapmotor ranking sixth with 4,300 units sold.

XPeng's sales growth can be attributed to the strong performance of its MONA M03 and P7+ models.

M03 and P7+ together accounted for 87.4% of deliveries, with 4,100 and 2,030 units, respectively. XPeng’s third best-seller is the G6 fastback SUV.

The M03 and P7+ are amongst the most affordable models of the brand, starting at 119,800 CNY and 186,800 CNY, respectively.

XPENG WEEK 1 OF 2025 SALES

In December alone, XPeng delivered 36,695 new cars, with the MONA M03 accounting for over 15,000 units and the P7+ exceeding 10,000 units, together making up more than 68% of XPeng's total sales.

On January 4, XPeng announced that the cumulative deliveries of the MONA M03 had surpassed 50,000 units, less than five months after its launch.

Even when considering the entire NEV market, XPeng's performance is noteworthy. In the first week of 2025, BYD led the NEV sales with 36,500 units, followed by XPeng, Galaxy, Li Auto, Geely, AITO, Wuling, Tesla, Zeekr, and Xiaomi.

In 2024, Li Auto, HIMA, and Leapmotor ranked first, second, and third in annual NEV sales among NEV emerging automakers, with XPeng ranking seventh with 190,068 units sold.

Despite falling short from the initial annual target of 280,000 units, the way XPeng ended 2024 leaves many optimistic.

XPeng has the potential and runway to be amongst the top three among emerging NEV automakers in 2025.

XPeng plans to launch extended-range variants this year, with models with over 400 km of pure electric range and more than 1,400 km of combined range, with a charging speed of 1 km per second.

Rumors suggest that the first EREV model will be an SUV based on the G9 platform, targeting competitors like the Li Auto L9 and AITO M9.

XPeng recently unveiled its Turing AI self-driving system, featuring cloud, model, chip, and hardware components.

The cloud-based model is expected to reach a computing power of 10 EFlops by 2025, ensuring ample computing for training self-driving systems.

XPeng CEO He Xiaopeng stated that the company aims to achieve L3-level intelligent driving assistance by Q4 2025 and partial scenario autonomous driving with "light maps, light radar, and heavy computing power" by 2026.
