XPeng (NYSE: XPEV) used its first Australian Brand Day, held in Melbourne on July 21, 2026, to confirm it will launch five new or substantially updated models in the country within six months.

The rollout marks the brand's shift to a factory-backed local operation and signals a long-term commitment to the Australian market. XPeng Australia and New Zealand head of marketing and creativity Damian Royce said the company would deliver "Five cars in six months – launching in sync with China, not years behind."

The relaunch follows XPeng Australia and New Zealand's takeover of local distribution from TrueEV in April 2026, a transition that triggered an ongoing legal dispute after TrueEV was dropped less than two years into a five-year agreement. XPeng has said it will honor cashback offers issued to customers under the previous distributor.

Speaking at XPeng's Guangzhou headquarters earlier in July 2026, head of international markets Alex Tang said Australia was one of five strategic global markets for the brand, and that every future model would be engineered for right-hand drive from the outset. He added that XPeng was ultimately targeting a 100-site dealer network in the country.

XPeng currently operates 25 showrooms across Australia and New Zealand and plans to expand to as many as 50 outlets within six months, aiming to place most buyers within a 40-minute drive of a dealership. A national parts warehouse has opened in Melbourne in partnership with FedEx, and the company is working with the Australian Automotive Service and Repair Authority to share service data with independent workshops.

The rollout began with the seven-seat X9 electric people mover, which reached Australian showrooms alongside the Brand Day announcement. Two grades are offered: a front-wheel-drive Standard Range from $89,900 (c. $62,700) before on-road costs, and an all-wheel-drive Performance flagship from $109,900 (c. $76,600).

Both use an 800-volt electrical architecture. The Standard Range's 94.8kWh lithium iron phosphate battery delivers 535km (332 miles) of WLTP range, while the Performance's 110kWh nickel manganese cobalt battery reaches 580km (360 miles). The X9 supports 5C ultra-fast charging, adding 10 to 80 per cent battery in around 12 minutes, plus vehicle-to-load capability; while the X9 sells as an extended-range EV in China, Australia receives only fully electric versions.

An updated G6 medium SUV, XPeng's sole model in Australia until this rollout, arrives alongside the X9. The revised four-grade range starts at $51,800 (c. $36,100) before on-road costs for a single-motor Standard Range offering up to 480km (298 miles) of WLTP range, while a Long Range variant with an 80.8kWh battery extends this to 525km (326 miles).

Two Performance grades use a 358kW/660Nm dual-motor setup for a 4.15-second 0-100km/h claim, priced from $63,800 (c. $44,500) before on-road costs. XPeng says more than 200,000 G6 units have been delivered globally, and the model holds five-star ANCAP and Euro NCAP safety ratings.

The Mona-branded L03 compact SUV is scheduled to reach Australian dealerships in the fourth quarter of 2026, following its global unveiling in Germany. In China, where it drew more than 20,000 firm orders within seven minutes of its July 16, 2026, launch, the L03 is priced from 123,800 CNY (c. $18,300) to 156,800 CNY (c. $23,150).

The car measures 4650mm long, 1920mm wide and 1600mm tall on a 2850mm wheelbase, roughly matching the Toyota bZ4X. It uses a 183kW/280Nm single motor paired with either a 56kWh battery for 550km (342 miles) of CLTC range or a 69kWh battery stretching that to 650km (404 miles).

An extended-range version sold overseas combines a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine with a 37.2kWh battery for 315 to 325km (196 to 202 miles) of electric range and up to 1380km (858 miles) of total range. Australian pricing for the L03 has not yet been confirmed.

The G9L flagship SUV, positioned above the G6 as a rival to the Kia EV9 and Volvo EX90, is due in November 2026 with both EV and extended-range drivetrains. A Chinese regulatory filing has confirmed a 270kW rear-wheel-drive single-motor layout, with all-wheel-drive variants adding a 160kW front motor.

The L05, arriving in January 2027, sits above the L03 at 4870mm long, 1930mm wide and 1636mm tall on a 2940mm wheelbase, sharing the smaller car's EV and extended-range powertrains. Neither the G9L nor the L05 has confirmed Australian pricing yet.

XPeng plans to introduce its Kunpeng range-extender technology and next-generation Navigation Guided Pilot driver-assistance system, powered by its in-house Turing AI chips, to Australia and New Zealand in 2027. A sedan is also expected to join the local range that year, with the company weighing the P7 against a larger P7+ fastback.
