On July 30, XPeng Chairman He Xiaopeng announced via social media Weibo that the all-new XPeng P7, positioned as a luxury sports sedan and dubbed the “Dream Car,” will make its official debut in Beijing on August 6 (China time).

He Xiaopeng also welcomed actress Zhong Chuxi—XPeng P7 owner and fashion ambassador—into the XPeng community, noting that the first-generation P7 has gained over 200,000 owners.
The original P7, which launched in 2020, used to be the company's leading volume seller, achieving a peak of 9,183 units in a single month in March 2022.
However, with tightened competition, its sales have since significantly slumped, recording only 53 units in June 2025.
More importantly, the debut of the P7+ in October 2024, a much more affordable sedan model priced at 186,800 RMB (c. $26,150 USD) offering a 615 km CLTC range, effectively cannibalized the P7's sales.
This next-gen P7, internally codenamed "E29," promises significant improvements over its predecessor.

The legacy XPeng P7
The existing XPeng P7 currently on sale in China is available in two variants from the P7i series.

These include the 2024 P7i, which is priced at 289,900 RMB (c. $40,500 USD) and the 2023 P7i at 249,900 RMB (c. $34,900 USD). Both of these current models offer a CLTC pure electric driving range of 702 km.

Introducing the All-New XPeng E29
The all-new XPeng P7 is set to debut with several new trims, each expected to feature enhanced performance and improved driving ranges.
While the official pricing for these new 2025 models is yet to be announced, the lineup will include the E29 Base RWD, the E29 Long Range RWD, and the E29 AWD.
The transition from the P7i to the P7 “E29” involves major upgrades across exterior design, dimensions, battery and driving range, and speed and performance.

Exterior design
The design of the new E29 marks a significant departure from the classic streamlined silhouette of the older P7i.
While the P7i showcased an elegant electric sports sedan profile with its signature through-type light bar, the E29 adopts a more modern, ultra-sleek coupe-like appearance with sharp accentuated lines.

The E29 features a front face with distinctive Y-shaped LED daytime running lights and a full-width light bar that emphasizes sharp angles.
Its profile is characterized by a sharp, sloping roofline that smoothly integrates into a lift-back rear, creating a contemporary fastback design. This contrasts with the P7i's more conventional sedan trunk.
At the rear, the E29 also features Y-shaped LED lights, a full-width light strip, and an electric retractable spoiler.

Dimensions
The new E29 is considerably larger than its predecessor. The P7i models measure 4888/1896/1450 mm in length/width/height with a wheelbase of 2998 mm.
In contrast, the new E29 measures 5017/1970/1427 mm in length/width/height with a wheelbase of 3008 mm.
This means the E29 is an additional 129 mm longer and 74 mm wider than the P7i, while also boasting a slightly longer 10 mm wheelbase and being 23 mm lower in height, contributing to more sporty look.

For further comparison, the more affordable P7+ measures 5056/1937/1512 mm in length/width/height with a wheelbase of 3000 mm. Notably, the P7+ is longer than both the older P7i and the upcoming E29.
The new P7 E29 variants have curb weights ranging from 2090 kg for the E29 Long Range RWD to 2220 kg for the E29 AWD, with the E29 Base RWD weighing 2125 kg, significantly heavier than the P7i that weighs 1980 kg.

Battery and Driving Range
The E29 introduces both a new smaller battery option and a larger, higher-capacity battery, along with an impressive ultra-long-range variant.
The existing P7i models are equipped with an 86.2 kWh ternary lithium battery, enough for 702 km in CLTC range.

For the new E29, the E29 Base RWD variant utilizes a 74.9 kWh LFP battery, remarkably maintaining the same range despite its smaller capacity.
Furthermore, the E29 Long Range RWD is powered by a larger 92.2 kWh ternary lithium battery, achieving an outstanding 820 km CLTC range.
Meanwhile, the E29 AWD uses that same 92.2 kWh ternary lithium battery, but loses some of the range to power its all-wheel drive system, resulting in a more than respectable 750 km CLTC range.

Speed and Performance
The new E29 significantly elevates the performance benchmark. The older P7i Rear-Wheel Drive variants had a maximum speed of 200 km/h and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 6.4 seconds.

On the other hand, the all new E29 variants boast a higher maximum speed of 230 km/h with a total motor power of 270 kW (367 Ps), which is a substantial increase over the P7i's 203 kW (276 Ps).
Moreover, the more powerful E29 AWD comes with a dual-motor setup that can output 437 kW (594 Ps) of total motor power.
