You Can Soon Drive a Tesla Cybertruck in Fortnite and Rocket League

Epic Games players in either Fortnite or Rocket League will soon be able to virtually drive Elon Musk's Tesla Cybertruck starting on July 23, 2024.

Fortnite has posted a short Youtube trailer of the new in-game addition and is currently #7 trending in Canada as of the writing of this article.

In the video, the Cybertruck is seen pulling against another truck attached by a metal chain, which is a clever reference to Musk's previous marketing stunt showing a Cybertruck easily winning a tug-of-war against Ford's best-selling F-150.

To get the Tesla Cybertruck in Fortnite, players need to complete nine daily Summer Road Trip quests. In addition to the truck, players can win four different Cybertruck decals (skins) and "Cyber" wheels.

If players can't manage to complete all the quests in time, they can purchase the Tesla Cybertruck bundle starting on August 6 using the Fortnite Shop V-Bucks. Some in-game vehicles have cost as much as 4,000 V-bucks or approximately USD 32.

In Rocket League, players can also unlock a similar Cybertruck bundle by completing three challenges of the Summer Road Trip event from July 23 to August 6. The reward items will be made eligible for cross-game ownership.

According to Active Player, Fortnite and Rocket League have an active player base of 215 million and 89 million players worldwide.

This is not the first time that an EV company has collaborated with a video game studio to enable virtual synergies. For example, The Grand Tour Game and Forza Motorsport let you drive the pure electric supercar, NIO EP9.
