On November 21, 2025, at the Guangzhou Auto Show, NIO CEO William Li announced that the company’s small premium EV brand Firefly had reached a domestic milestone with its 30,000th delivery.

Considering that Firefly has delivered a cumulative total of 26,242 units as of end of October, the milestone suggests 3,758 cars have made to customers hand this month, with one more week to go.

Based on Firefly’s official website configuration page, both trims have an estimated delivery waiting time of 2-3 weeks.

Alongside that announcement, NIO said it will soon launch a right-hand-drive (RHD) version of Firefly in Singapore and Thailand, marking the start of its Southeast Asian expansion. In Thailand, NIO is partnering with the Thonburi Group, founded in 1941, while in Singapore the company has tied up with high-end auto distributor Wearnes Automotive.

Firefly already sells in several European countries, including the Netherlands, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Austria, and Portugal, and NIO plans to expand into a total of 17 markets across Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia.

Launched on April 19, 2025, Firefly carries a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of CNY 119,800–125,800 (c. $16,900–$17,700). The model is 4,003 mm long, 1,781 mm wide, 1,557 mm tall, with a 2,615 mm wheelbase. It is powered by a 42 kWh battery, delivering a 420 km CLTC-rated range; its rear-drive setup uses a 105 kW permanent-magnet synchronous motor with 200 N·m of torque and a top speed of 150 km/h.

To deepen its brand identity, Firefly has launched “Project Glow,” a user-content initiative that has now evolved into a “co-creation ecosystem” linking professional modifiers with users. At the Guangzhou show, two signature custom models were exhibited: one rally-style “Eye of the Storm” built with the APW outdoor modification community, and a second car adorned with Guangzhou food-themed graphics — drawing inspiration from local dim-sum specialties like har gow and char siu bao.

NIO has also introduced China’s first credit-based car subscription service for Firefly. In partnership with Sesame Credit and SUPEREV, the “Firefly 7-Day Car Subscription” allows users to test and use the car temporarily without a large down payment.

Sesame Credit, a consumer credit-scoring service under Ant Group, and SUPEREV, an operator specializing in EV rental and subscription services, support the program by providing the credit-evaluation framework and operational infrastructure behind Firefly’s seven-day subscription model.
