On December 14, 2025, spy photos of the XPeng (NYSE:XPEV) MONA SUV surfaced, confirming a coupe-style fastback body and single-motor electric powertrain. The vehicle is scheduled for official release in 2026, expanding XPeng’s affordable MONA sub-brand beyond the M03 sedan launched in August 2024.

The MONA brand originated from XPeng’s 2023 acquisition of Didi’s smart EV unit. Positioned for high-volume sales, it targets young urban consumers with tech-integrated yet cost-efficient vehicles. The M03 sedan starts at 119,800 CNY (c. $17,000), and the SUV is expected to carry a modest premium due to its larger size and utility.

The SUV measures approximately 4.7 meters (15.4 feet) in length and features semi-hidden door handles and XPeng’s signature split headlights design, first introduced on the M03.
Under the hood, the SUV will likely feature a single-motor rear-wheel-drive configuration with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. While exact battery capacity remains undisclosed, a CLTC range between 500–600 km (311–373 miles) is consistent with platform expectations. The setup emphasizes cost reduction and energy efficiency over peak performance.

Driver assistance will be handled by XPeng’s vision-based system, excluding lidar to control expenses—a strategy consistent with the M03 and distinct from XPeng’s premium G6 and G9 models.
Although earlier internal commentary suggested a potential late-2025 debut, the vehicle is now confirmed for a 2026 market launch. Production will likely take place at XPeng’s Zhaoqing plant. Pricing is projected between 140,000–170,000 CNY (c. $19,900–24,100), competing directly with the BYD Song Plus EV, Aion Y Plus, and Geely Galaxy E5.

At 4.7 meters, the MONA SUV occupies a strategic niche between compact and mid-size crossovers, offering elevated seating and cargo flexibility while maintaining aerodynamic efficiency through its fastback roofline, similar to Tesla Model Y’s.

Interior details, charging speeds, and model naming remain unconfirmed. However, given the M03’s 400V electrical architecture and 30-minute 10–80% DC fast-charging capability, similar specifications are anticipated.
Will the MONA SUV enable XPeng to gain traction in China’s intensely competitive sub-150,000 CNY electric SUV segment?
