According to local sources, Tesla plans to launch the new Model Y in early 2025 and the Shanghai Gigafactory has already begun mass production, with an estimated daily output of 2,400 units.

This marks a substantial increase from the previous trial production phase, which saw a daily output of around 200 units according to a former Tesla store manager (胖虎Shawn).

If these production figures hold true, the Model Y could achieve an annual production capacity of over 750,000 units.

Tesla recently increased the Shanghai Gigafactory's annual production capacity to 950,000 units, which was much needed as wholesale sales on a trailing twelve-months basis already exceed 900,000 units (domestic sales and exports included).

The new Model Y will feature notable changes to both the front and rear designs.

The front end is expected to incorporate design elements from the new Model S and Model X, including an embossed Tesla logo.

This development quashes earlier rumors that the front would feature a full-width light strip, a design choice not universally popular among Tesla fans.

The rear of the new Model Y is expected to adopt the full-width taillight design, as confirmed by the spy shots.

Additionally, the rear will feature a new large spoiler, though it may not be standard across all models.

The new Model Y's interior is expected to align with the recently launched Model 3 (codenamed "Highland"), featuring more comfortable seats, ambient lighting, a new instrument panel, rear entertainment screens, and an improved sound system.

In terms of performance, the new Model Y will be equipped with more efficient drive motors and an enhanced chassis for improved comfort.

There are also rumors of a new battery pack, though this has yet to be confirmed.
