A report out of China from August 2024 stated that Tesla is planning to launch two modified Model Y, 5-seater and 7-seater variants.

The 5-seater version uses the internal codename of “Juniper” and is expected to be delivered by Q1 2025, while the 7-seater variant will be delivered in Q4 2025.
Design renders surfaced in China, suggesting the possible adoption of through type headlights and/or taillights design.
While spy photos don’t reveal much due to the camouflage, the most noticeable change is the position of the rear license plate frame moving from the tailgate to the bumper.
However, an interior spy photo of the central screen reveals a 3D render of the car showing the same sharp headlights as the new Model 3, previously codenamed Highland.

While the front design may not deviate too much from the Tesla Model 3’s, leaked photos of the rear may feature some form of through-type light strips.
A camouflaged test vehicle was recently seen on the road in Spain. the first time it has been captured outside of the U.S.
Some predicts that it will also be produced in Tesla’s Berlin gigafactory for the European market.

Through-type headlights and taillights have gained significant popularity in China, with major NEV brands such as Li Auto, NIO, and XPeng having used this styling in their vehicles.
While only the Tesla Cybertruck features a through-type headlight and taillight, Tesla’s “We Robot” event on October 10 revealed the robotaxi called Cybercab, which will also be using this modern styling.
Outside of design, rumors point that the new Model Y may come equipped with a 95 kWh battery capable of breaking the 800 km range mark.
