Xiaomi unveils 2nd blockbuster EV model, Xiaomi YU7

| Dec 9Xiaomi revealed on its official Weibo account that the company will debut its first SUV, the Xiaomi YU7 in June or July of next year.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) also released further technical information on the SUV, which has for several months been dubbed as the “MX 11”.

The Xiaomi YU7 will measure 4,999 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height with a 3,000 mm wheelbase.
The SUV can achieve a maximum speed of 253 km per hour with a total of 508 kW (691 horsepower) peak motor power, 220 kW front and 288 kW rear.

The Xiaomi YU7 will also feature a ternary lithium-ion battery supplied by CATL.
Chairman of Xiaomi, Lei Jun also explained that the early reveal was done in hope to remove heavy camouflage as early as possible to conduct further comprehensive long-term and large-scale road tests to ensure product quality.

Xiaomi Auto currently sells one electric vehicle, the Xiaomi SU7, which has been benchmarked against the Tesla Model 3 since launch.
The Xiaomi YU7 will now be a direct competing model against the Tesla Model Y, which also expects a major facelift in early next year.

On November 18, Xiaomi Auto had exceeded its annual sales target of 100,000 units ahead of year-end.
Lei Jun later announced the company’s intent to deliver 130,000 vehicles in 2024.
Xiaomi notably delivered over 23,000 SU7 in November, a monthly record. November 2024 YTD sales stand at over 122,000 units.
