On March 17, 2025, BYD held a press conference to unveil its “Super e-Platform” technology and start the pre-sale of the Han L and Tang L models.

At the event, BYD unveiled its Super e-Platform, introducing “flash-charging” batteries, 30,000 RPM motor, and a new generation of automotive-grade silicon carbide power chips.

The core electric components were comprehensively upgraded, achieving deep integration of electrification.

Super e-Platform

This Super e-Platform is the world’s first mass-produced passenger vehicle platform with a "1,000V high-voltage architecture," integrating the battery, motor, and power supply into the 1,000V system.

BYD also introduced flash-charging batteries, which feature ultra-high-speed ion channels from the battery's positive to negative electrodes, reducing battery internal resistance by 50%.

It achieves a charging current of 1,000A and a charging rate of 10C, which means that the battery can be fully charged in one-tenth of an hour, or in 6 minutes.

In terms of charging speed, the flash-charging battery delivers 1 megawatt (1,000 kW) of charging power, reaching a peak charging rate of 2 km of range per second.

It can achieve 400 km of range in just 5 minutes of charging. The Han L equipped with this battery can achieve this performance.

BYD's Chairman and President, Wang Chuanfu, stated at the event: "To completely eliminate users' charging anxiety, our goal is to make charging times for electric vehicles as short as refueling times for gasoline cars, achieving 'equal speed for charging and fueling.'"

To support ultra-high-power charging, BYD has independently developed and mass-produced a new generation of automotive-grade silicon carbide power chips with a voltage level of up to 1,500V.

Additionally, BYD introduced a mass-production 30,000 RPM motor. At the event, BYD Senior Vice President Luo Hongbin explained that this motor not only significantly boosts vehicle speed but also reduces motor weight and size while increasing power density.

In terms of performance, the motor delivers 580 kW of power for a single module and achieves a top speed of over 300 km/h.

The first models to feature this new platform are the flagship Han L and Tang L.

The new platform also sets higher standards for charging stations. BYD has developed the world’s first fully liquid-cooled megawatt flash-charging terminal system with a maximum output capacity of 1,360 kW.

BYD plans to build more than 4,000 "megawatt flash-charging stations" nationwide in the future.

Beyond its own stations, BYD’s dual-gun charging technology can upgrade fast charging stations to flash charging stations, while its pioneering "smart voltage-boosting" technology ensures full compatibility with public fast charging stations.
