On November 24, new spy photos of the Li Auto i9 surfaced in China, showing the large SUV undergoing road tests. The prototype indicates that Li Auto is preparing another all-electric SUV model positioned above the i8 SUV and below the MEGA MPV.
Li Auto, listed on Nasdaq (NASDAQ:LI) and Hong Kong (HKG:2015), has built its portfolio around extended-range electric SUVs and more recently added pure EVs. The i8, launched on September 20, 2025, marked the start of a new naming structure and introduced a larger all-electric platform. The size and stance of the new i9 test vehicle suggest a further move upmarket.

The i8 measures 5,085 mm and is priced at 339,800 CNY (c. $47,800) and is positioned as the all-electric sibling of the extended-range Li L8.
The MEGA, Li Auto’s first pure EV MPV, is priced from 529,800 to 559,800 CNY (c. $74,600 to $78,800). It uses a 102-kWh battery and supports 5C fast charging that can add 100 km (62 miles) of range in approximately 12 minutes.

Based on the spy photos, the i9 appears to be quite longer than the i8 (nearly 5.3m long) and more MPV-oriented than the 8-series. Li Auto has not released specifications, but we expect industry leading cabin configurations.

Range and battery details remain unknown, though Li Auto has historically emphasized on highly efficient battery range capacities. Both the i8 and MEGA exceed the 700-km CLTC range mark, which is outstanding for a vehicle of this size.
Pricing expectations place the i9 above the i8 and likely below the MEGA, suggesting a price point between 400,000–500,000 CNY range (c. $56,300 to $70,400). No launch or delivery timeline has been confirmed, but spy photos typically surface a few months ahead of the official debut.
