Tesla Shanghai Giga to export new Model Y to Southeast Asia and South America

On March 27, automotive blogger and former Tesla store manager “胖虎 Shawn” revealed that Tesla's Shanghai factory has already started producing the new Model Y for export markets in Southeast Asia and South America.
This also indicates that the production capacity of Tesla's Shanghai factory has sufficiently ramped up to meet domestic and global demand.

Model Y exports from Shanghai Gigafactory dropped to 26 units in February, compared to 13,711 units sold to global markets.
The SUV’s export figures from China have been on a downtrend since the beginning of 2024 as Tesla focused on the local demand.

Based on insurance registrations, Tesla has delivered over 10,000 new Model Y through week 12 (Mar 17-23) for the first time in 2025.
Through the first three weeks of March (Mar 3-23), more than 28,800 Model Y have been delivered to customers.

Despite just having started official deliveries of the Model Y facelift on February 26, Tesla hiked the Long Range version by 10,000 RMB to a price of 313,500 RMB last week.
Meanwhile, the rear-wheel-drive version remains at 263,500 RMB, but will have new financing options of 3-year interest-free or 5-year low interest, with monthly instalments as low as 3,808 RMB (c. 525 USD).

The new Model Y featuring Tesla’s new “cyber” design language debuted on January 10, 2025.
According to domestic outlets, Tesla is also preparing for the debut of a “stripped-down” version of the Model Y, under codename “E41”, to address the intense market competition in China.
