Xiaomi Delivered 135,000 SU7 And Outsold Model 3 In China For 4th Week In A Row

On December 31, Xiaomi Chairman and CEO Lei Jun announced during a New Year’s Eve live broadcast event that Xiaomi will have delivered over 135,000 cars in 2024 and plans to deliver 300,000 in 2025.

Lei Jun made sure to remind the audience of the difficulty to reach the 300,000 vehicle delivery milestone in the automotive industry, using BYD as an example, which took 10 years to exceed that mark.

At first, the Company’s internal delivery target for 2024 was 70,000 vehicles with a supply chain capable to produce 76,000 units.

Little did he expect that the Xiaomi SU7 would gain such a popularity in China.

He also revealed that the total expenditure to launch the SU7, including marketing, research and development, store layout, and staffing well exceeded the rumor of 10 billion CNY; that figure was closer to 30 billion CNY.

Based on the four weeks of insurance registrations in December, Xiaomi has a delivered a third consecutive month in excess of 20,000 SU7 to customers.

Despite only starting deliveries in April 2024, the Xiaomi SU7 has sold approximately 137,600 units based on December registrations.

Xiaomi also achieved a record weekly sale of 6,700 units through the last week of December (Dec. 23-29).

Cumulative December registrations imply that Xiaomi has delivered over 23,900 vehicles, beating November’s 23,156 retail sales.

More importantly, Xiaomi SU7 has outsold its eternal benchmark, the Tesla Model 3, for the past 4 consecutive weeks in December.

In the last week of December, the SU7 outsold Model 3 nearly by 2:1 ratio as Tesla only managed to deliver 3,500 units.

Since October, Xiaomi SU7’s cumulative sales have exceeded Model 3 by nearly 11,000 units as of Week 52, with a total of 64,900 vehicles delivered compared to 53,900 Model 3.

While the Tesla Model Y remains head above shoulders of all other pure electric SUV of its class, the Model 3 certainly has met its match.
