NIO (NYSE:NIO) said on January 18, 2026, that cumulative deliveries of its all-new ES8 electric SUV had exceeded 50,000 units on the 120th day after customer deliveries began, according to a statement published on the company’s official Weibo account.

The delivery pace places the ES8 among the fastest-selling battery electric vehicles priced above 400,000 CNY in China, a segment dominated by full-size SUVs with lower volumes and longer ramp-up cycles. NIO disclosed that the model reached 10,000 deliveries in 41 days, 20,000 units in 70 days, 30,000 units in 89 days, and 40,000 units in 100 days, before crossing the 50,000-unit threshold on day 120.
According to NIO’s official ES8 configuration page, delivery waiting times for new orders placed today sit at 15-16 weeks for all three trims.

The all-new ES8 was officially launched on September 20, 2025, as NIO’s flagship full-size pure electric SUV. It is positioned above the ES7 and targets the premium family and executive SUV segment, where vehicle size, cabin flexibility, and ride comfort remain key purchase drivers. Compared with the previous-generation ES8, the new model entered the market with a price reduction of more than 100,000 CNY, according to NIO, lowering the barrier to entry in the brand’s highest-end SUV line.

NIO offers the ES8 in three configurations. Battery purchase prices range from 406,800 CNY to 446,800 CNY, equivalent to approximately $58,400 to $64,100. Under NIO’s battery-as-a-service (BaaS) program, vehicle prices fall to between 298,800 CNY and 338,800 CNY, or about $42,900 to $48,600, excluding the monthly battery subscription fee.
The six-seat Executive Luxury Edition and the seven-seat Executive Luxury Edition both start at 406,800 CNY ($58,400) with battery purchase, or 298,800 CNY ($42,900) with BaaS. The six-seat Executive Signature Edition is priced from 446,800 CNY ($64,100), or 338,800 CNY ($48,600) under the BaaS plan. Deliveries began shortly after launch.

In terms of size, the ES8 measures 5,280 mm in length, 2,010 mm in width, and 1,800 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,130 mm. This positions it among the largest pure electric SUVs currently sold in China. The cabin layout supports six- or seven-seat configurations, reflecting NIO’s focus on large-family and executive transport use cases.
The ES8 is built on NIO’s full-domain 900-volt high-voltage architecture. The dual-motor system delivers a combined peak output of 520 kW and peak torque of 700 Nm. NIO states the vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.97 seconds, with a braking distance of 34.9 meters from 100 km/h.

The SUV comes standard with a 102 kWh 4C battery pack, providing a CLTC-rated driving range of 635 km, or approximately 395 miles, with an energy consumption rating of 16.6 kWh per 100 km. NIO has also confirmed that a self-developed 120 kWh battery pack will be introduced in the future, supporting 5C fast charging.
Chassis hardware includes an intelligent dual-chamber air suspension system and the latest-generation ZF external-valve CDC adaptive damping system. NIO’s 4D full-domain comfort navigation system adds lane-level perception capability, integrating road preview data with suspension and damping control.

Inside, the ES8 features NIO’s Skyline panoramic display, a floating horizontal central control screen, and an upgraded NOMI in-car AI system. The cockpit includes 111 physical buttons across the cabin, reflecting NIO’s decision to retain tactile controls alongside touch-based interfaces.
NIO said earlier this month that it had surpassed 1 million cumulative vehicle deliveries, marking the start of what it calls its third development phase focused on high-quality growth. With large SUVs such as the ES8 and the Onvo L90 driving volume, December deliveries reached 48,135 units, up 54.6% year on year.
Whether the ES8’s early delivery momentum can be sustained as competition intensifies in China’s premium EV SUV segment will become clearer as production and demand normalize through 2026.
