However, considering that January and February are typically the lowest selling months in the auto industry, paired with the timing of Chinese New Year this year which began at the end of the month, January results are decent.
In fact, the production area of the Model 3 at the Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory was suspended from January 26 to February 3.

Furthermore, Tesla unveiled the facelifted Model Y “Juniper” on January 10, which could have held off some buyers from purchasing the old model.
According to a local media outlet, a Tesla store salesperson in Guangzhou on January 24 said that the current pre-order volume is over 100,000 and the earlier you order the sooner you get.

Test drives and deliveries are expected to begin in March. According to a Tesla salesperson, approximately one-third of orders are for the old model, but the inventory is limited.
As all attention is on the new Model Y, Tesla launched on February 4, a new purchase incentive of 8,000 CNY in insurance subsidy, eligible for all Model 3 variants in China.
This new round of incentive brought the Model 3’s net price to an all-time low of 227,500 CNY (approx. 31,200 USD).
