On February 15, a new video circulated on Weibo of what is believed to be the Onvo L80 (given it’s dual camera horn design) charging at a Tesla Supercharger in China.

The L80 is codenamed “Blanc”, the highest peak in the Alps, is expected for launch this year, alongside another SUV model.

CEO of Chinese auto media outlet Xchuxing had confirmed on January 22 that the vehicle is almost ready for launch.

At the time, he shared an image allegedly from Onvo that the vehicle has completed trial production and is entering the Tooling Trial (TT) stage imminently.

TT stage is just before the SOP stage, which refers to “Start of Production”.

Onvo VP Xia Qinghua previously said that the L80 will be positioned against the Li Auto L8/L9 and its release will fall some time in the second half of 2025.

Onvo President Alan Ai also shared that the brand has planned to release two SUV in 2025, a 6/7 seater flagship SUV and a 5-seater large SUV.

The Onvo L80 will very likely be over 5 meters long, considering that the L8 and L9 measures 5,080 mm and 5,218 mm in length, respectively.

NIO has already registered trademarks for the L70, L80, L90, and L60, which is the only model on sale currently.

In fact, the Onvo L60 was just launched on September 19 of last year and has delivered 20,000 units in the first three months of launch.

Onvo L60 offers a 60.6 kWh FinDreams LFP and 85 kWh CALB NMC lithium-ion battery capable of 555 km and 730 km CLTC range, respectively.

The L60 is priced between 206,900 to 235,900 CNY for the rear-wheel drive and 226,900 to 255,900 CNY for the all-wheel drive version.

With BaaS (Battery as a Service), buyers can reduce starting price to as low as 149,900 CNY with monthly battery rental payments of 599 or 899 CNY, depending on the battery.

While there is no official pricing on the L80 yet, an existing Onvo owner thinks that the L80 may start at 256,900 CNY, which can be further lowered to 199,900 CNY with BaaS.

This pricing level will be extremely competitive, considering that the Li Auto L8 and L9 start at 321,800 and 409,800 CNY, respectively.

The main concern for the L80 is that if the entry-level battery size shares the same 60.6 kWh LFP battery used in the L60, the CLTC range will be below 500 km, considering the significantly larger size and less aerodynamic profile of the L80.
